Concerns about power supply and possibility of dead console

So I sent in my power supply unit today so I could get a new one from Microsoft. However, after doing some research, my particular issue is more related to defective consoles than power supplies. The other day my console just stopped working. I tried the
troubleshooting steps for the power supply to no avail. I would plug in the power supply to the console and the orange light on the PSU would light up for half a second then go out. Do any support agents have any insight into this particular issue? Is there
a chance it's just the power supply and not the console? Or should I just go ahead and send my console in, too? Thanks for any help.

wondering if you got advanced replacement just on the power supply or the whole console? I have a dead power supply and they told me advanced replacement was not an option just for the power supply.

 

Power light turns solid red

I found a troubleshooting page.

After following the troubleshooting it says to order new power supply.

But my console if 4 years old and out of warranty so how do I know it's really the power supply?

I don't want to spend money on a new power supply only to get the red light again.

So does anyone know if there is the possibility this troubleshooter is wrong and it's not my power supply?

While it's frustrating waiting for a reply, you don't want to bump your posts because the support team works from oldest to newest. Regarding your issue, I personally would wait and try the new power supply before assuming it's the console. All issues are
slightly different, so it doesn't necessarily mean your console is bad. Also,I don't know if Microsoft will even take your console until you try.
