Concern regarding frame rate comparison between old X360 and X360 Slim

Hello! I was noticing my little brother play Darksiders on his xbox 360, which is the older white model with the external HDD on top, and i saw how smooth the game was running compared to what I was seeing on my xbox. Here are the numbers:

-His xbox is set to 1080p, and so is mine

-All of the TVs used ran at 1980x1080p, no game mode option on any of them

-I bought my xbox around 2-3 years ago new; he just bought his used about a month ago

I've been wanting to know why my xbox has been seemingly running slower than his. I just changed my xbox to 720p and turned overscan off with little change in framerate. Is there anything I could do to increase my framerate? I could understand if I would
need to clean dust out of my xbox, but I do not want to take it fully apart yet because I do not have the proper equipment (a grounding strap, for example) so I will have to wait on that. Other than that, I have no idea. Is it just age? Is there nothing I
    can do?

Thanks in advanced for the replies guys!

    :)

  3. Backward Compatibility games

Finally, I fixed this problem. I don't have X360, X360 account and I have old Live account. So I install compatibility game and create X360 account and its works.

    Problem solved.

  4. Concern regarding frame rate comparison between old X360 and X360 Slim

Hi there, so did you test the consoles on the exact same TV? Really there shouldn't be any difference between he consoles. I've personally owned every version of the 360 there is and the performance has always been the same.

The reason I say the TV is because do you happen to know how what the TV's refresh rate is? It would probably come down to some other contributing factors between TV's as well, but if one is 60Hz and the other is say 120Hz then possibly that's the difference
    and not the consoles.

I could link the specs for all three, I would just need to find them.

Are you using the same video outputs on each console? If one is using component or VGA and the other is using HDMI, that could theoretically result in a apparent difference in frame rate. In order to make a valid comparison, everything should be the same
(TV, video output, cables, etc) - standard scientific controls. But in terms of processor. RAM and video chipset there is no difference in the main CPU/GPU/RAM specs between the Xbox 360 models (other than going to progressively smaller chip sizes which reduces
the temperature output). Many have tried to state the opposite of what you are saying, trying to claim the older ones can't run games as well as the newer slim models, which also is not true as they have the same specs.

    -

Also I would highly advise against opening up the console for any reason. This will void your warranty and if anything should happen to the console, Microsoft would not repair it - even at a cost as it is considered to be modified.

I never really believed that the older system had better specs than the newer one, that is kinda backwards XD

Just tested both systems out on the same TV with the same HMDI cable, same 1080p, 60hz setttings for the xbox and TV, using Darksiders. The old xbox still is getting better frame rate. The only thing that I can think of that is different between the two
systems is that my HDD has more stuff on it and my xbox is connected to the internet while his is not. Darksiders is a single player game, tho, so being connected to the internet shouldn't matter at least for this game in particular.

I should also note that I have a set of Turtle Beaches x32's that connect to my setup TV (not the TV used in this experiment) that use a single VGA sound port. However, this test concluded that that fact did not matter, as I got the same framerate in this
    test as I do normally.
