Conan Exiles

For those who don't know, Conan Exiles is a survival game set in the world of Conan the Barbarian created by Robert E. Howard. Originally it was announced that the game would see a spring release on Early Access, but this time frame was changed for unknown
reasons, it was speculated that it was because of the graphic nature of male and female genitalia and the ability to adjust the size of certain parts of the anatomy.

Today I read that Microsoft is requiring Funcom to remove nudity options from their game for its Xbox One release. While my character will be clothed nearly the entire time I play the game, I am against censorship of this sort.

Actions I think MS and Funcom should take:

Nudity options should be available no matter what, but initially should be set to off and require the player to put their birthday in to turn it on fully.

Prior to purchase there should be a warning detailing the content in the game, much in the way the ESRB rating boxes do.

MS should step back and not interfere with the development of the game.

While I imagine the decision to censor the game was made to avoid an AO rating. I think it was a poor decision. If the game is censored at its early access release, I will not be purchasing it on Xbox, and I will seriously consider getting rid of my Xbox
altogether.

Open world Conan game coming to Xbox One

Conan Exiles is an open world survival game coming to Xbox One.

Sounds a lot like Ark Survival Evolved to me but anyone who's played a Conan game will know what to expect, loads of naked ladies probably lol.

It is not Microsoft that is doing it. It is ESRB Ratings . The game was submitted for review.

 

You don't seem to understand. ESRB is a ratings board, all they do is determine who the product is appropriate for. Microsoft will not market a game the ESRB considers AO. This is the case with Conan Exiles, which is why Funcom is
required to censor the game in the US. **** MS and the ESRB for this decision.
