But, a lot of the games in its library don't interest me.

My 40 inch 1080p Samsung HDTV has Component Cable inputs on the back.

I have a free spot in which I can set-up my Original Xbox.

I have 61 Original Xbox games

I am trying to find an official brand Original Xbox component cable for it, but these are difficult to find.

I see a lot of 3rd party component cables for the Original Xbox.

Which brand do you recommend I buy?

The cheapest as none should be better than the other except if they don't work.

 

I have 10 OXB's and 3 has aftermarket cables of various makes, including madcats, and all 3 work very well. So IMHO: You should be good no matter which manufacture you go with.

Don't buy the cheap ones. Most are only stereo and very cheaply made. The official Xbox one has a optical audio output and is much higher quality. It's not an HDMI cable where it either works or it doesn't.

The real deal goes for about $40 I got a few and would sell you one but this forum if I recall doesn't allow that like it doesn't allow almost everything.

I prefer the official Xbox Brand component cable, but this will be the first time that I might have to settle for a 3rd party brand.

It was sold as the HD kit and is just a component cable, I had to "customize" my console from PAL to NTSC to get it to work. Cheap is fine in this circumstance, it's just a cable.

 

It's not just an component cable it has an optical audio port on the official Microsoft cable the cheap ones do not have the port but I already said that...

There is also a big difference in the quality of the cable. Again like I said this is not an HDMI digital signal where it either works or it doesn't it's analog signal and quality can make a difference.

The cheap generic component cables for the original XBOX are garbage that's why people search for the official ones.

 

Yes analogue signals can degrade which decreases the signal quality and a better quality cable can reduce that, but the difference will be so minimal in this instance I would still suggest a cheap cable.

The quality loss is also based on how long the cable is so if you were to be running over 50ft of cable then yeah I'd probably suggest a higher quality, but again that's not the case here.

Though we're not even talking about a great difference in price anyway, but I personally would still go for the cheaper option, especially if you're only using the TV speakers where I don't think optical audio is going to be that great a benefit.

 

I own a set of the Mad Catz cables that Gamestop sells for my Gamecube (there multi console cables) and tried them on my OG Xbox when I first got them and they're terrible. The difference in picture quality is clear between them and the official cables.

Maybe the other knock off brands are better I don't know but I doubt it. If money is the issue then yes of course get what you can afford.

I didn't know the OP was only using the tv speaker I didn't see that in the post. They could have a headset or receiver with a optical port or want the ability in the future if they ever get one.

 

I'm just going off a hunch with Lei that she wouldn't be using anything, but the TV speakers, haha.

Anyway, she has full information with different opinions and can now make an informed decision. =)

 

Well I'd never buy a multi console audio/viusal cable, they are always bad and the wires will always cross. 3rd party specific for the xb is fine, I modded enough early consoles for component and vga to not bother with optical audio. Honestly, I just wouldn't
bother spending allot of money on cables, it's such as scam.
