I swear, since the xbone was released the service is down more than it's up.. I have to put my game down and give up on play
at least 50% of the time because the games rely so heavily on internet features. Like forza horizon 2 for example.. ONCE AGAIN stuck at syncing data.. so it's there for an hour, check xbox live status, nothing effected they say,all services good.
Come back 2 hours later while it's still trying to sync and what do you know..outages on multiple items.. again and again with this nonsense!

I even called support during the last unreported outage and the moron at tech support had me do a reset only to find out it was on your end!
[Mod Removed] is going on!? That was fun re-synching every game..

We should be compensated with free months of XBL gold at the very least for our trouble! This is ridiculous!

    :)

Well to begin, I believe that when you subscribed to a Gold Membership, you acknowledge that there will be downtime, and certain newer systems will have some bugs both locally and on the network. I also don't think they are going to give out free Gold time
anytime soon, as they could lose a lot of money.

    You can usually check
    this page
for updates on what services are down, how they are down, and you can also have a notification sent via sms or phone call to you when a service you are monitoring starts functioning normally again.

The page above is pretty reliable, from my experience, but I feel service downtime may not be entirely the cause of this problem. I know you don't feel your connection is at fault, but I'd like you to run a test an reply with the results so I can help you
further, if what I post here isn't enough. The Ookla Speedtest site is safe, and I use it all the time without fault. Can you tell me your ping to the nearest server?

Also, if you can still play online but it won't sync (ex. Playing GTA Online and getting messages saying "GTA failed to sync with Social Club"), that is not an Xbox Live/Xbox One issue, but it is an issue with the game's servers.

I have 60 Mbps down / 12 Mbps.. this is just another misjudgment by Microsoft of the demand internet gaming causes.. everytime a new game or dlc comes out it's the same story.. GTA 5 DLC was this weeks cause.. just awful on their part!

To put it in basic math.. IF (and I mean a big IF) they were only down 12 hours a week due to their server issues that's 26 solid days of outage per year, a free month every year should be the least of their compensations..

Even if your implication is correct, they are definitely not down 12hrs a week and therefore not 26 solid days. And again your download and upload speed doesn't mean to much, that is why I asked for your ping instead. Of course there is a minimum, but it
has very little impact. More than 150ms of latency will usually cause you to not be able to connect, 70ms will cause very bad lag in game, and some matchmaking trouble, 50ms you will have a lot of lag, 30ms you will lag a little bit, 20ms and below you should
    be fine.

16ms lag.. if that.. every week there is an outage usually lasting at least 12 hours.. any game that requires online features like forza horizon 2 which NEEDS other players times to even race, the game just stops.. and that's just the outages I notice, it
    is definitely more..

I'm a certified network engineer with a college degree and am using gigabit network equipment.. on a quite decent internet connection, let's just drop all issues on my end. Their server goes out which is backed up by REPORTED downtime on the website.. "social
gaming" downtime = no gaming on the xbone.. this isn't up for debate, their servers are out.. 12+ hours/week..

Xbox live was down for about 5 hours on xmas day. It's not been down since.

If a certain games servers are down then that's down to the games developers, not Microsoft.

When the heists were released for GTA V this week the games servers were down on all platforms, including Sony's consoles, that is not a Microsoft issue,it's a developers issue.

As per the terms & conditions you are not entitled to any sort of refund/compensation anyway.

Also, just because your a network engineer, doesn't mean your always right. My father is a network engineer and he taught me as well, then I went on to better my own knowledge on the topic. Both of us say otherwise, and we also know that we can be wrong,
we wouldn't use certifications or degrees to say that we know everything. Nobody is right
all the time, not even you.

Also, just because you are having a problem with certain games doesn't mean Xbox Live is down..

"Social Gaming" features goes down weekly on the xbox one network, 12 hours plus.. there's no arguing that. GTA 5's servers had other issues and that probably caused the issue for the xbox network this week, people constantly trying to reload the game, ddos
attacking the network with requests, but that's just the excuse for this week.. the system has been out for nearly a year and a half, this shouldn't still be happening.

And once again: SOCIAL GAMING DOWN MEANS = NO GAMES THAT REQUIRE ONLINE FEATURES LIKE FORZA HORIZON 2 ARE PLAYABLE. And of course any with multiplier features are gone too.. so not just 1 game (i was giving forza horizon 2 as an example)........ And sure
I COULD search for a game that doesn't require any online features and completely unplug from the network so it WILL load the game, but that's not the point is it?? That sounds pretty DOWN to me.. The 360's xbl network is MUCH more stable, but i'm not talking
    about that..

like right now.. trying to sync up again.. 10 minutes and I'm at 50%.. I guess it's sunday and it's busy but 400+ms latency to xbox/microsoft.com on xbone network test!?!? it actually times out or gets host unreachable pinging from my pc... same pc: google
= 16ms, and even bing which is owned by microsoft = 16ms.....

no reported outage, just so slow you can't use it! Maybe it'll get to 100% this time.. maybe...

  14. Hey there, OutlierForLife! I'm very sorry to see any connection issues! Reading over this thread, it seems to me that there is something going on that we don't have all the information for. Hopefully I can help you out.

While we have had service alerts up recently, the details for those have been for specific parts of Social & Gaming, not the entirety of it.

It looks like when you do our
    detailed network statistics
test, you are getting 400ms+ response times. This indicates to me that there is something going on with your set up. To get the full scope of what you are running into, please post back with the following:

What Country/State/Province do you live in?

    Modem brand & model number:

    Router brand & model number:

How many 360 and One consoles are connected to this router?:

Wired or wireless (for each console):

    Things you have tried:

    Is UPnP Enabled? Yes/no/Unknown

Do you have a NAT error? If so, what is your NAT type?

    Any Error Codes you encounter:

Who is your ISP?(Internet Service Provider):

All of this information will help us out. Your modem and router information will help us determine if there is a known issue with your device that we can resolve with a few settings changes.

Get back to us with this information and we'll start from there! We look forward to your post, and hope to get to a speedy resolution for this. :3

FYI, there is no Xbox Live Status Alert that reads "Social Gaming is down." What you are referring to is a category called "Social and Gaming." This covers many things, and about 90% of the time it has to do with the Friends List, both managing it and tracking
what your friends may be doing. Also, it will mention when there is a game-specific issue like "problems uploading worlds to Minecraft" or "problems syncing data with Project Spark."

While a Social and Gaming issue can indicate problems with specific games, an across-the-board issue like you describe (if Live-related) sounds more like an Xbox Live Core Services issue. But if that were the case, it would be down for everyone, and I hate
to say it, but I've experienced nothing like you've described, other than that brief 24-hour period in December and a few sporadic blips right after that as issues were ironed out and safeguards put in place.

Unfortunately, with a 400 ms Ping, it sounds more like an issue with your console. Your network equipment is impeccable (as a tech expert myself, I appreciate my $400 gigabit ethernet security router) but if the network card on your console is bad, you could
be running off Jesus's wi-fi and still have issues.

Let Mrs. Q know the details she asked about and see what we can get figured out for you!
