Compatible headsets with new Lunar White Xbox One Controller

Hi,

so I just purchased the Lunar White Xbox One controller with the 3.5mm jack expecting pretty much all headphones (CTIA and OMTP) to work for at least audio. I am aware the mic does not work on OMTP headsets.

When I plugged in my earbuds that came with my Samsung Galaxy S4 Smartphone (pretty sure CTIA) no audio was outputted to my earbuds. I also tried another pair of earbuds (fake Samsung earbuds I bought off Amazon) and they also did not work. They are both 4-pole
connectors and work on my phone and pc.

I am pretty sure these should work since I have not found anyone else having these problems and have seen youtube videos of others with Samsung S4/S3 earbuds connected to their controller but they were using the Xbox One Adapter with the old controllers and
worked fine.

I also tried another 3rd party, no-name, cheap headphones and surprisingly the audio came through and worked so I am thinking the controller is fine.

What I would like to know is if there is any information on exactly what kind of specifications a headset needs to work with this controller. I have searched all over the internet and could not find any detailed information. Most websites and forums (including
Xbox) just claim that any standard CTIA headset will work, while OMTP headsets will work without the mic function.

I tried chatting with Xbox Support but the guy pretty much knew nothing and just kept repeating the same things that are already posted on their Support page which I can read myself.

I just purchased the HyperX Cloud 2 gaming headset and will see if that works with the controller when it arrives. I love the look of the new controller but will return it if this is faulty.

Turtle Beach X12 on Xbox One

I've been trying to use my X12, i just bought the Lunar White controller which comes with the 3.5mm headphone jack. I read that stereo headsets are compatible with the new controllers but i can't heard any game sound through the headsets.

Just got a new white lunar controller and plugged my headset in and i can hear people but cant talk but headset works fine with my old standard controller

 

Have you figured out how to use the 3.5mm jack using earbuds with a mic?

 

As you describe, CTIA vs. OMTP is whats going on but those are the two "standard" 3.5m types

That doesn't mean that these are the only types and to be honest, any headset or earplug that works on Samsung and iPhones in my experience are always partially or completely incompatible.

*And I would only purchase headsets that have the xbox one logo on the box
