Compatible headphones not working in X Box One S controller mini jack

Hi,

I just bought my son a pair of Turtle Beach Recon 50X wired headphones for use with our X Box One S. They say they are compatible with the X Box One S controller and can plug directly into the controller mini jack without using the adapter. But when I
plug them into the mini jacks on either of our controllers I get no audio. If I plug them into an iPhone I get audio. If I plug them into the Xbox headphone adapter I get audio, but not when I go directly into the controller mini jack. That's the whole reason
I bought them. We get no audio, and the Volume setting on the Controller setup page is grayed out, not accessible.

Does anyone know why these headphones would not work when Turtle Beach says they should be compatible?

troubleshooting steps for the Elite controller from our Xbox support page? Or rather, how you came to the conclusion (what troubleshooting you have done) that the 3.5mm jack has stopped working?

If you have already done all troubleshooting and are certain that the headphone jack is no longer working, then I recommend

setting up a repair for your Elite controller since the headphone jack is an internal part of the controller body.

I'm sorry to see any issues with your Turtle Beach headset! If it's working with the adapter but not with the controller, even though
they do advertise it as working with the newer controllers, then it sounds like it's either a controller jack or headset issue.

If you haven't already, try out another 3.5mm jack controller to see if it works on there. If it doesn't, but also works on the adapter, I suggest reaching out to Turtle Beach to ensure there isn't an issue on their side or a misprint on their website for
compatibility. It looks like
they are aware of some issues, but they don't specifically call out what you're experiencing. They have a contact link at the bottom of that article if those steps don't help you out.
