    Compatible gaming headsets not working properly with Xbox One S


    We have a brand new Xbox One S. I also bought a compatible gaming headset (not an Xbox or Microsoft brand) which has good reviews on Amazon. We can't get the headset to work properly with the controllers. We have two controllers and I have connected them
    to Xbox accessories while attached to the headset and they are running on firmware version 3.1.12210 and it says, "no update needed".

    I have now purchased four gaming headsets to see if the headsets have a problem. They all work perfectly well when connected to phones and PCs, so I think it's a problem with Xbox. We have been through the Xbox settings and tried various adjustments, made
    sure microphones aren't muted, but we are still having problems. Occasionally the headsets work, but most of the time the mic wont work, or there's interference. I'm reading online that quite a lot of people seem the have problems with the headphone jack
    on their controllers.

    Can anyone tell me if this is a known issue and I have to buy an Xbox brand headset to get it working? Surely any compatible headset should work with our Xbox One S - the ones I purchased said they were definitely compatible with this particular Xbox.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    If your headset does not work properly. It is possible that you purchased a headset that is not compatible with Xbox. If it is compatible with Xbox, you will always find it on the packaging. If it is compatible with the Xbox, the label will be on the packaging.

    Hello Violet,

    Thanks for letting us know you got the headset working. If you continue to have issues with this in the future try getting a chatpad or an adapter. They seem to help as they do not plug in with the 3.5mm jack.

    I have seen mention that a recent update caused an issue but I can not confirm as all my headsets are wireless.

    The hard reset seems to have worked and my boys have got one headset working. Thank you for your help and thanks also to everyone else who has offered suggestions
