    We're thinking of buy an Xbox One partly as my son can't currently play his Xbox 360 online with friends who have an Xbox One. Two questions:

    1. Will our current Kinect box work with the new Xbox One S or the Xbox 1?

    2. Are the Xbox One and Xbox One S compatible together online?

    Hi AntonioMiranda7,

    Because of backward compatibility you will be able to join parties, join games but only the xbox 360 game you have started up.

    Hey there chinchilla444,

    To answer your questions.

    Q: Will our current Kinect box work with the new Xbox One S or the Xbox 1?

    A: The Xbox 360 Kinect is not compatible with the Xbox One, which has a new Kinect Sensor. So you would need to purchase a new Kinect for Xbox One if you're interesting in playing Kinect enabled games on Xbox One.

    Q: Are the Xbox One and Xbox One S compatible together online?

    A: Yes, they're fully compatible with each other. The main differences between the two is that the Xbox One S has a built in 4K UHD Blu-ray player and can output 4K resolution to your TV (if it's compatible). The original Xbox One console is unable to display 4K
    resolution or support 4K UHD Blu-rays. It can support normal Blu-rays and 3D Blu-rays though! Aside from that, they both play the exact same games Compatibility :)

    That game is not backwards compatible. You can find a list of all games that are compatible at https://www.xbox.com/games/backward-compatibility

    There is no way to request a game to be compatible. The backwards compatibility program ended in 2021, so anything that is not compatible, won't be.
