Comcast Xfinity X1 (XG1P)

Layout: STB (Xfinity X1, model XG1P), HDMI, XBox One, HDMI, TV (LG 55" LED 120Hz 1080p full HD)

Blinking screen (roughly 2-second cycle) alternating between black screen and "XBox has lost your TV connection". It is not always exactly the same (sometimes an image of a show will freeze on screen) but that is the majority problem.

I have done everything in the troubleshooting steps and it has no effect.

Unplugging the HDMI and plugging it into the TV directly fixes the problem immediately. This means the XBox is definitely the cause of the problem.

My suspicion (which I can't prove, of course) is that the X1 cable box is detecting the XBox One and thinks it is a recording device. I had similar problems with Verizon FiOs equipment. It makes sense that Comcast would cause the STB to intentionally sabotage
its own video output to keep their customers from recording things themselves (in order to force you to pay extra for DVR services, obviously). Can we please investigate this?

Trouble with Xbox One Guide

Set up Comcast box manually. Type in Xfinity instead and see that gives you more choices. I have a x1 box from Comcast, could not find it until I typed Xfinity.

Try setting make=Comcast (or xfinity), model=X1. That should work.

 

I had the same problem. For cable company typ Comcast and the manually type in the model number. The number I used was C1982. It worked great for me. Hope this helps.

 

Were you able to pause, record, rewind, or fast forward live Tv with your box? I had to switch to cable from Directv that was a usable dvr and worked on the xbox 1 side too. Thinking I had a usable dvr with xbox 1 I got the Xfinity RGN150N model that's
not working a dvr thinking I would pause or record live tv with. Wrong and failure with MS! Why promote this as a dvr when it is not! The guide works getting the right model number entered but does not work with pausing tv.
