Combining Hotmail and Outlook accounts.

For all my Microsoft login information I have used Hotmail (PC, Phone, X Box 360) I have recently purchased the X Box One and used a cash card with some money remaining on that card. where it gets interesting is I used my Outlook account information for
that log in. If there a way to merge the accounts, like I thought the accounts were. Or is it easier to just login under the Hotmail account information.

Why don´t you just upgrade to Outlook with your hotmail account?

That is one click and it does it all alone.

You will still have the @hotmail but it will be a Outlook account.

It is that easy.

Go to your hotmail and click in the right bottom corner I think.

It should say upgrade to Outlook.

You will have all your stuff in Outlook.

You don´t need to switch e-mail addresses

Unfortunately, I created the outlook address literally an hour after they started enrolling and snagged THE email address I wanted…., not knowing you could rename the Hotmail account. From what I’ve been told at Microsoft Answers.com. you cannot change
or merge Hotmail and Outlook accounts once they have been created separately, nor can you use an existing Outlook account as an alias to another account.

It is not possible to merge the 2 accounts, I would suggest just sticking with your main account.

Since your email address is already a Microsoft account you would not be able to combine the two together.

You can either go to account.live.com/addassocid and sign in with the hotmail account and add a new outlook account to it or if you have an existing email address that is NOT a Microsoft account already you can add an email that you have to the account but
you would not be able to combine the two together

the account connected to my old gamertag is a microsoft account, but it doesn't have @outlook or @hotmail) and the new email account that I want to be connected to my old gamertag is also a microsoft account but @gmail, not @outlook or @hotmail

Hotmail and Outlook would be the same address. Hotmail transitioned to Outlook quite awhile ago and his email address would have been transitioned to Outlook. But the way you're putting it makes it sound like he created a second GT using the same email
address. Because the Hotmail email address is the Outlook account. Is that correct? Has your friend contacted support at all?
