HDR washed out on Xbox One X and S on Philips HDR1000 monitor.

    Hey there

That may just be has the HDR is on the game your using. Some people do say it makes it look washed out and dont like it others like it. Its the same has me saying 1080p 60 frames is better then 4k 30 frames its just my point of view. Some people may agree
with that others may not its all down too personal taste and what you like

You can disable HDR in settings Display and Sound
Hi and thanks for your answer.

I saw the same games I'm using on different displays and the HDR effect is extremely different. Plus any Youtube video that showcases a OneX HDR-ready setup confirms that, HDR is supposed to be about vibrant colors and a wonderful experience.

I don't see any vibrant color. Here are 2 pics I took of the issue.

    https://ibb.co/XZJ4NdS

    https://ibb.co/xX6pGHK

The first one is taken with HDR disabled while selecting color range 12bit on xbox (or 10, looks the same), the second one is taken with HDR enabled (literally any combination of xbox settings produces the same results in HDR mode).

As you can see, the green in SDR mode is already somewhat vivid and vibrant, in HDR becomes dull and greyish. So are all the other colors.

Have same issue on my lg oled e6. Netflix, destiny, and witcher 2 all turn on HDR and make colors all super saturated. Had to disable hdr entirely. Thanks Microsoft!

Sounds to me like you don’t have your color said correctly. Make sure that HDR is enabled on your port, and then any fake HDR is disabled

    Xbox One S HDR Bug

I own an Xbox One S with most current updates and a Vizio M55-D0 55'' 4K HDR enabled TV with the Firmware v2.0.13.13 update that enabled support for HDR10 (it already supported Dolby Vision).

Xbox One S Video Output settings: 4K resolution, 4K enabled, 24fps enabled, HDR enabled (advanced TV details reveal my TV supports everything but 50hz). Color Sampling set to 10bit. Although my TV's specs report HDMI can handle 12bit color apparently the
included HDMI cable cannot handle that bitrate nor do I believe any content actually offer more than 10bit color. (Setting the color to 12bit results in complete blackouts of video signal when attempting to view a 4K Blu-ray).

Vizio M55-D0 Settings: HDMI 1 Color Subsampling Enabled (enabling HDMI sourced HDR). Xbox One S connected with included HDMI cable directly to HDMI 1.

    1. Deadpool Ultra HD HDR Blu-Ray (encoded with HDR10) plays fairly flawlessly with the Vizio companion app showing that it is playing in HDR and showing dramatic improvement over the darker and less vibrant playback with HDR disabled on the Xbox One S. Notably,
the video signal did still drop occasionally out as if the HDMI cable was being overwhelmed with data or perhaps the disk reader in the Xbox was having trouble reading the data quickly enough. The Blu-ray plays flawlessly when HDR is disabled and the disk
recognizes it doesn't need to read at such a high rate, also presenting a message confirming it detects it cant send an HDR signal.

    2. Netflix app produces issues reported above. Upon launching and giving Netflix full control over the audio and video output, the color, both within the app interface, videos and on the Xbox Dashboard itself become distorted and washed out (and the resolution
of the dashboard seems to increase). When playing content that is advertised within the Xbox Netflix app as HDR, such as the movie "The Do-Over", or series like Daredevil S2 or Marco Polo, the Vizio companion app reports that that the TV is not receiving an
HDR signal. The video appears noticeably grainier with blacks showing artifacting compared to using the same app with HDR disabled in the Advanced Video Settings on the Xbox One S. The color and clarity of the image is far improved with HDR disabled vs attempting
to enable HDR and still not actually receiving an HDR signal. It may also be noted that there appears to be a video signal drop out (not pauses, but missing video) as with the Blu-Ray in HDR present when attempting to watch Netflix with HDR enabled. It appears
as though the included HDMI cable or the system itself is struggling to deliver the data. With HDR disabled, 4K content seems to stream perfectly with this app and looks really good despite not having HDR.

    3. Amazon Prime Video, which although it does not produce the color distortion that the Netflix app produces when launched, also does not seem to send an HDR signal when streaming Prime TV Shows that supposedly offer the feature such as "Mozart in the Jungle"
or "Transparent". 4K in general seems to work fine though.

This is frustrating for 2 reasons. One, I'm not getting HDR content from apps (Netflix or Amazon) as I'm supposed to as well as the inconvenience of having to enable/disable/reenable HDR functionality when using Netflix. Because Deadpool is encoded using
HDR10, you would assume the HDR10 used by Netflix or Amazon would be decoded correctly by my TV. Also, the TV came with native Dolby Vision support, in the event that's what they used.

P.S. Only Netflix and VUDU offer native 4K/HDR streaming to the TV via SmartCast built into the TV. While VUDU streams my 4K movies (Batman v Superman: DOJ) in HDR (confirmed by Vizio app) and looks fantastic, my native Netflix cast ALSO produces the color
distortion, washed out blacks, and graininess that is present when attempting to play on Xbox One S with HDR enabled. I'm assuming Netflix must be responsible for the color issues i'm experiencing.
