Colorful dots and lines on screen before console crashes

First, welcome to the Xbox community. Apparently, this could be a hardware issue, as it is happening with more than one game, this issue could be artifacts, before we confirm this, please try the tips below.

Try testing your console on another TV or Monitor if possible

Change the HDMI port your console is connected to the tv and also the console itself

Test another HDMI cable if possible

Try plugging the console directly into the power outlet, without using a line filter

Try testing the console on another power outlet

- If none of this solves the problem, please try the solutions below.

Solution 1:

Step 1. Press and hold the Xbox button on the console for at least 10 seconds to open the Power center.

Step 2. Then unplug the power supply from your console and wait for 3 minutes.

Step 3. Plug the power supply back into the Xbox console.

Step 4. Press the Xbox button on the console to turn it on again.

Solution 2:

Press the Xbox button to open the guide.

Select Profile & system > Settings > System > Console info.

Select Reset console.

On the Reset your console? screen, you'll see three options:

- Select the option to keep your games and apps so that they are not deleted, make sure you know your email and password as they will be removed from the console and you will need to add them again.

- If none of this solves the problem, I'm afraid it's a hardware problem, which would require a repair or replacement. You can activate your console warranty via the link below.

Try it out if you can and let us know we'd be interested to find out some more information on this stuff. You're actually one of the few people experiencing different colored lines and dots on the screen (first person to actually post a picture)

I've had a similar problem with my first Xbox, except mine had a faulty overheating problem were the screen was horribly colored with vertical and checkered squares. It happened to be that the soldering melted on the motherboard and Microsoft wanted to charge
a whopping $150 (6 years ago). Since your console is new you can try to take it back to the retailer but they will most likely tell you to call Microsoft. Hopefully they will replace/fix it for free.

Are you on HDMI? If so, try a different cable or a different input on the TV. I've had flakey HDMI do that.



If you are not on HDMI, the console's dead out of the box. Exchange it at your retailer.

Your console's GPU is failing, and it needs to be serviced. If you have a phat console, you're out of luck and your console needs to be replaced. Resetting your video settings won't really do anything to fix the issue, as it's a hardware issue, which you
can do nothing about.
