    Color Depth 36 Bit

    I have been using my Sony Z9D with 36bit selected since I bought Xbox One S almost a year ago. Today the picture started acting up and cutting in and out; and it seems that the cause of this is the 36bit selection. If I go to 30 bit, i do not have any issues;
it is weird because I didnt have any issues before.

Any insight would be appreciated, is my Xbox Defective, I understand that most content is 24 bit and 30 bit, so no real need for 36 bit. However it worked before and stopped working all of a sudden.

    :)

    color depth causes audio problem

I had some experiment adjusting different settings in the display & sound setting menu and noticed that when I set the colour depth to 36 bits per pixel, the output audio would irregularly pops or glitches. I'm currently using the pc monitor as the main
display and my hdmi cable does support 36 bits color depth. However, the audio issue would not occur when i set the color depth to 30 bits per pixel. I hope this information helps to fix this audio issue as I do notice the color depth different between 30
    and 36 bits setting.

    Color Depth 36 Bit

[/ QUOTE]

Color Depth (bits per pixel)... No difference? or Better?

Selecting a higher color depth will not break your T.V, you are quite safe in using the max 36 bits per pixel option

    Cannot Enable 3D BluRay

For those who cannot enable 3D. I had to lower the color depth from 36 to 30 bits per pixel. After that, 3D remains selected and I could 9lay 3D BDs.

Xbox one X audio drop outs

Is your color depth option set higher than your TV can support? Go to
    Settings > Video output
    .

Under "Video fidelity", you will see the "Color depth" and "Color space" options.

    Color depth:

    • If you have a Dolby Vision TV, set it to 36 bits per pixel (12-bit).
    • If you have an HDR10-compatible TV, set it to 30 bits per pixel (10-bit).
    • If your TV does not support HDR, set it to 24 bits per pixel (8-bit).

    Color space:

    • If you are on a TV, use Standard (recommended).
    • If you are on a monitor, use PC RGB.

Screen issues with Xbox one X

You may have set your "color depth" setting too high, likely at "36-bits per pixel (12-bit)". Choose the next option, "30-bits per pixel (10-bit)".

I experienced this same problem when I initially set up my Xbox One X on my 4K/HDR TV, and fixed it by setting it to 10-bit color. I think 12-bit is for Dolby Vision TVs.
