    Cold War Xbox One X Crash - Xbox shuts down in menus and game loading


    Hi all - I’ve used the search function and couldn’t find any recent results on this. Some legacy posts were found without resolution.

    I have an original Xbox One X (not series X) and just bought the Cold War standard edition. I’ve checked that this is the correct version and it seems to be.

    Every time I try to play Cold War, as soon as I get into the menus or load a multiplayer game - it shuts down my Xbox console (not the controller though). I’ve tried a fresh install and turning down my resolution to no avail.

    I can’t believe for a second that I have a game that is 2 months old that is currently unplayable due to a game breaking glitch? Surely this must have been patched by now.

    All other resolutions I’ve looked into have been Series X specific. Any ideas on this front? I’m totally gutted, as I had to save for this as I lost my job due to the pandemic.

    Hi,

    This could be due to the Cold War version you are using on your Series X, did you take a look at
    here?

    I have the same problem on my series x cod cold war and assassins creed valhalla both shut the xbox down its very frustating also im noticing achievements not poping no resume game working

    Xbox Series X - shut down when playing Call of Duty: Cold War?

    Afraid not - I've just decided to not play Cold War until I hear of a fix.

    I've played other games for hours with no issue, but every time I load up Cold War it ends the same way - with the Series X console shutting down after about 10 mins.

    I have no idea if it is a software or hardware issue, but I see it is pretty common so will eagerly await a statement from MS or Treyarch.

    Anyone know when the update to stop series x shutting down and crashing is coming out?

    Does it happen with a certain game in particular?
    Shut down straight away happens in cold war every 4 matches but if playing farming simulator19 online with friends will crash after 8-9 hours playing and will shut down if try to reopen the game. Checked of was overheating but the exhaust heat is only 20-25
    degrees so not too alerting
