    nothing. it allowed higher quality audio when compared to dvd, due to its increased capacity only. you have seen audio codecs developed because this increase in capacity, but they are independent of blu ray. had hd dvd prevailed you would have still seen
    them.

    dolby and dts aren't making codecs for 9.2 channels of lossless audio because of some kind of audio ability within blu ray. its simply a matter of having capacity on a disc for that much data.
