"Code not valid" can anyone help?

I bought a Fallout 3 code for my Xbox 360 yesterday, I was so excited to redeem the code and play, but it says It's not valid. And I don't know what to do because I tried everything I can:

-Made another account on my Xbox

-Tried to redeem it from my computer in my Microsoft account wich is connected to my Xbox

And this code says It's usable for the Xbox One too, Is that possible that I can't even use a 360 game code on my 360 because It's just a backwards compatible only code? It should be working because It's activated and I bought It in a local video game shop,
not from the internet where there's a chance of scamming like stealing the code and selling the already used code. Do I need Gold membership?

HI,EVERY TIME I WRITE THE REDEEM CODE IT SAYS CODE NOT VALID...I HAVE3 CODES ALL NEW ONES...CAN ANYONE HELP ME WITH THAT

I tried my code and says its not a valid code please enter a valid code. Got in touch with Xbox support and they told me it was a valid unused code. Anyone got a answer on how to get this to work?

 

Fallout 3 is a backwards compatible game and even a digital 360 code should work on the Xbox One, so long as the game is backwards compatible (otherwise, it will only be playable on a 360).

When you bought it at the local video game shop, was it included with FO4? Most of the time, when you buy used games that come with digital content like that, the codes have already been used and they can only be used once which is why most 2nd hand game sellers
do not guarantee the codes. If it's the same FO3 code that comes in with the FO4 game, it does have an expiration date, which is February 8, 2016. Chances are the code you have has already been redeemed or has expired.
