    Code is not working to recover account


    Two days ago I accidentally deleted my main Xbox account. Before I deleted the account I updated the email address and phone number to my own; previously the email and phone number were my brother's from over a decade ago when the account was created. Now I am attempting to recover the account and the code that is being sent to my brother's phone is not working. I believe it is getting screwy because I had just changed the email and phone number associated with the account prior to accidentally marking the account for closure. I have 27 more days before the account is permanently deleted.

    Xbox support has been so far been unable to provide any useful assistance. I have completed an account recovery form that was denied, I am unsure of the credit card or other information that was utilized over a decade ago. And it seems the recovery form is not accepting the updated card and personal information I inputed a few days ago.

    I've seen another post about an identical issue on reddit. There was no clear resolution. I feel I need assistance from someone at Xbox who can actually make changes to my account. Attached are a few screenshots from roadblocks I have been hitting.

    Hi Daniel,

    Unfortunately this does not help me. Xbox support continues to ask me to repeat the same steps: Submit the account recovery form, retry sending the code, try a different browser, etc. They are unable to fix the problem. How difficult is it to reach someone who can look at your account and see what is causing the problem? Also the global customer service number is not working.

    I'm sorry you accidentally deleted your account, but don't worry, I'll guide you to a solution. I want to remind you that this is a Microsoft community help forum, therefore we are members and players like you.

    Having said that, with the intention of helping you, I did a search on the internet and it is exactly what you say. But if you want my personal opinion, the only ones who can help you in this case is Xbox support, so don't lose faith and keep trying.

    Hi again Ian P,

    I'm sorry to hear that Xbox support is not helping you at all, I would like to help you but I am only a member of the Microsoft community and a player like you means I do not belong to Microsoft.

    The most I can do is advise you since I went through a similar situation a while ago and these are my tips for filling out the form:

    1. Enter only the information that you know is currently present on the account.
    2. If any account information has been removed (such as a phone number or debit card), do not include it on the form, just omit it.

    Note: In general, try to only put the information that currently resides on the account and DO NOT give up because from personal experience it took me about 6 times before I was finally verified as the account owner.

    It's the most I can do since, as I mentioned before, I'm a player like you. I wish you good luck, friend!
