Cod Ghosts Nat Type Moderate...

Hi,

I've been playing online just fine for months until today... My console says Nat type is open and I did all the network tests. I have good internet 40+ Mbps download and 12+ Mbps upload. Ghosts however... Moderate Nat type since I started. Reset modem and
system countless times, even port forwarded 3075 etc on my router with no success. I've searched everything I can think of and at this time just unable to play a 60 dollar game on a 500 dollar system. Pretty damn ridiculous if you ask me.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'm having the same issue as you mayhem. I have ATT High-Speed Internet, with a netgear nighthawk 7100 gaming router.

My console says NAT Type: Open

Cod Ghosts says NAT Type: Moderate

I disalbed the UPnP or whatever the heck it is to get my console to go from moderate to open, but COD Ghosts wasn't affected: its still moderate.

I can't connect with my clan mates to play clan wars, and its starting to *** me off. Help?

I can play other multi player games like forza 5 with friends no problem but ghosts it just says unable to connect, i can play random players but not my friends.

Do you have a NAT error? If so, what is your NAT type? open on xb1 , moderate cod ghosts

Hi Ricky! I have seen other reports of users who have had Open NAT settings until the latest update. Have you attempted to actually play a match with these settings? The odd thing from others' posts is that even though their NAT is now saying "Moderate"
or "Strict," for some reason, they are still able to play a match with no problems. (Also, are you in the preview program?)

One other thing - can you double check and verify exactly which ports you have forwarded? 3075 is not one of the ports necessary. There are a large number of necessary ports though, and they are:

Port 88 (UDP)

Port 3074 (UDP and TCP)

Port 53 (UDP and TCP)

Port 80 (TCP)

Port 500 (UDP)

UDP Port 3544 (UDP)

UDP Port 4500 (UDP)

You will need to forward all of those to avoid any issues. Those for which you have to forward the port twice (a separate rule for TCP and UDP each) are usually the trickiest.

The port that needs to be forwarded for call of Duty Ghosts was changed a couple of updates ago.

To get an open NAT in Call of Duty Ghosts you need to forward port 3076 to the xbox.

It used to be port 3075 but now it's port 3076.

 

Thank you both for your responses! First, Jaymo I made corrections on my router based on your figures- they were different than anything else I've seen. After those corrections I reset everything and fired it up, but results were the same. Keeping all
of Jaymo's settings- I changed port 3074 to 3076 as Malacath suggested, reset everything again AND Nat type: OPEN. Reading through countless posts and never saw to open 3076. Thank you both! I hope this info is passed on as this was extremely frustrating.
And in response to your question Jaymo: I had a horrible connection... I think I was kicked from the game about 3-4 times in about an hour of play, very laggy, and I was unable to join parties including chat parties due to that Moderate Nat type.

Malacath, thanks much for the info, I wasn't aware of the extra ports for Ghosts. I dug into it a bit and it turns out the extra ports are related to the number of consoles (any type) and gaming PCs on your network. Crazy! So, if you have one console/pc
you forward 3074 TCP/UDP, two consoles/pcs forward 3074 and 3075, three, forward 3076 and so on.

It's actually nothing to do with the amount of consoles.

It's just that Ghosts on xbox1 actually doesn't use the same ports as xbox live dashboard.

This is the case even if you only have one console. Ghosts needs port 3076. Port 3074 is for all other games.

If you have an open NAT without having to forward any port then that just means the UPnP on your router is doing it's job.

 

That must've been the case on mine, because I only had 3074 forwarded and it showed an open NAT. I went ahead and added 3076 to fend off any issues that may arise in the future, but it was just a preventive step.

If the number of consoles/PCs doesn't matter, then someone needs to tell Activision they have incorrect info on their support site! Surprise surprise. :-D
