CoD Ghosts gone black screen, taking too long to start

Recently, I started up the CoD Ghosts game from the Xbox One launch window, I got this screen showing the face of a Ghost warrior (wearing a ski mask), then it switched to black screen. Then nothing. It was taking too long. My HDTV works fine - when I switched
to TV mode, the channel was showing a TV show and a commercial. I switched to game mode, it was still black screen. I did not see anything that suggest that it was downloading or connecting.

So I turned off the console and try again. I got the same result.

I pulled out the CoD Ghost disc and saw nothing that appears to be damaged or scratched under the disc, it was as clean like new. I switched to another X1 game, Need for Speed Rivals and saw that it was up and running with the game and network connection
all good to go.

Has anyone experience this long black screen issue after you start up the CoD Ghosts?

Taking too long to start

I keep getting an error message

Whatever I select it doesn’t load and then I get a message stating “......is taking too long to load”

Around the same time a message stating

German is available for Fortnite message started to pop up

I have tired re booting, re starting, clearing cache and game data, and checking all my settings. My network connection is fine but it still keeps happening

Help please!

please try the manual power cycle steps like mentioned on the following link, be sure to wait at least 60 seconds before powering on again:
Restart or Power Cycle Xbox One Console

If that doesn't do anything then please try a factory reset (with keeping games and apps installed) via the steps mentioned here:

Reset Xbox One Console to Factory Defaults

I had this last night. How you fix it is simple. Turn off your console and unplug it for 1 minute. Then plug it back in, let it go through the restart sequence and try ghosts again. This is a well known issue on many forum boards and this solution works
almost every time. Don't know why it does but it does. I worked for me last night as well. Good luck.

 

Ive read disconnecting the power starts over some other "thing"/periphial on the Xbone, but I cant remember the thingy, LOL, but it does temporarily fix the issue.

 

Disconnecting the power (or power cycling) clears the memory and the cache and reset the Network card (you do not lose the stored wireless log in stuff). I think until we see the updates start rolling out this is the easiest and best way to rectify odd
issues with the ONE

I had the same issue right now; played it a week or so ago, put it in, start up, ski mask, blackness. I will try the power unplug. Thanks for the tip.

 

@Axe--Yeah, I understand the resetting, but there was something in settings or something (cant remember) but I have read it somewheres in one of these threads. Itll probably take an update. Ill try to find it.

 

Maybe it was like a computers hibernating setting or something, going look.

 

Ghosts seems to use the Cache of information up quickly on the Xbox one. I have gotten an error a couple of times saying out of memory 2. Until the update, clearing the temp memory by the hard power cycle seems to be the best option, and one that works.
Just glad I found that out prior to uninstalling and re installing the game like many did. Lets hope for a permanent update fix soon.

The fix does not work on my machine. Unplugged for 5 minutes and turned back on. Bam. Same black screen.

 

I had success using the "hard power off" which saves having to unplug. If you hold the touch-sensitive power button on the console for 10-15 seconds, you should get a weird "beep," and the system will power all the way off (the light on your power brick
should now be orange instead of the white standby light. Turn it back on and it'll do about a 10 minute startup (green screen, then all black, then white logo on black.) Try startin it then and see if it plays. Worked for me about a month ago, but might not
work for everyone....
