CoD AW really laggy!!

I cant believe some of the rubbish i see on here, trying to blame XBL and the xbox one for COD lagging...... It has nothing to do with XBL or PSN its the activision servers the same rubbish servers Destiny uses. My brother has a PS4 and he wont play online
because 4/5 games he gets into lags everywhere and he has very good internet

 

@N7....did you just sorta kinda defend the PSN?? I think the world must be coming to an end

 

Am not lagging game play is fine my only issue is seeing everyone ping drop to 1 bar.

Am with virgin media wired 162 meg no issues yet with lag

 

Ok it's player to player hosting ( or whatever it's called ) but surely it should search for the best host?

Well from my experience of previous COD games it never did and my son has been playing it quite a bit over the last 2 days with 2 of his friends ( all from the UK )

My son is with BT Infinity, gets around 75mb download, 16mb upload

Another friend on 50mb Virgin ( not sure what his upload is )

Their other friend lives in a rural area and only gets 6-7 mb yet most of the time it's picking his friend with the slowest connection as host, well going by the pings, he's been the one with the full bars and everyone else flipping between red etc

you can be on 300mb download but if your line is contested (Virgin Media between peak hours) then its never a real true connection at 300mb (its more shared than you think)

couple that with congestion and bottlenecking....

 

Wait until all the Christmas hordes come along... things can get pretty hairy.

Can't say for everybody, but I had the same problem this is how i fixed it.....

Got a better router and optimized settings on it. Made a world of difference!

So optimized settings depend on your router and if you search you will find many opinions about different aspects.

The fact is that if you get them right you will get smooth games more often and an overall better experience.

OPEN NAT is only the beginning! It can be so much BETTER! But remember LAG will never be completely gotten rid of.

I am about to open a thread on the best settings for my router (Netgear R7000 Nighthawk) if you have the same router please check it out, if you have a different router you can also check it out as some things may also apply to your router.
