Cod AW digital freeze buzz

still having issues... but now it is worse than before...

uninstalled and installed the game again.. now, it won't even load.. it freezes after about 3 seconds, and it goes back to xbox dashboard..

 

Got a new problem, this time on campaign. When playing 'Atlas' on grenade training it asks to take out a target with a smart grenade. Well there is no smart grenade. Only EMP, flash and thread grenades are available when cycling through the grenades.

Was this not tested before it was released?

 

Same here, I am using the digital copy of the game and nothing I do fixes it. freezes with a buzzing sound. After 2-3 sec, everything crashes

 

@shortpants94 RB button. If that doesn't work, yup need to grab some from the center table

 

Hey guys, here's an update from my side of the fence:

Got in contact again with Microsoft Support, and got walked through the following steps.

1. Delete your Gamertag (your save games are saved to the cloud, and your purchased items will stay on the console)

2. Uninstall Call of Duty completely.

3. Clear the persistent data cache in your system settings (settings ---> Disc & Blu-Ray ---> persistent storage ---> clear). Do this 3 times for good measure.

4. Clear your alternate MAC address in the network settings (settings ---> network ---> advanced settings ---> alternate MAC address ---> clear). This will restart your system.

5. Power cycle your console (shut it completely down by either disabling instant-on or holding the power button on the system for 5 seconds). When the system is off, unplug all cables. Controllers, HDMI, Kinect, power cable, get 'em all out of there. Let
the system sit like this for 2-5 minutes.

6. Plug the system back in and power it on.

7. Reinstall Call of Duty, ensuring the download is uninterrupted and the game is not launched during the download. Just leave it alone and let it go. Ideally, start it before bed and just go to sleep so the system isn't even used while downloading. You
can't be too careful.

8. When the download is finished and the game is installed, retrieve your Gamertag and launch the game.

As it is, I am currently on step 8. I'll try running the game again tomorrow morning, and update with the results.

Just for the record: for those of you that did purchase this digital copy of the game through the xbox with a credit card, Microsoft may be able to refund you the purchase amount It won't be easy, because most of the tech support reps will do whatever
they can to bounce you back to Activision.

If, like me, you don't want your credit card to touch an Xbox with a ten-foot pole and therefore purchased a download code at a retailer, you are unfortunately out of luck unless the retailer itself can issue you a refund.

P.S. Please be nice to the tech support reps, they are genuinely nice people and are doing everything they can with what they're given. Remember, honey attracts more flies!

 

I uninstall my COD Advance Warfare, then install it again, waited to be completely loaded 100% before playing. I am now able to play Aftermath level didn't freeze in beginning scenes, haven't try online yet, let you know.

 

anyone had any luck doing all the steps slipperman listed and getting the game to work?

I will probably do the same thing tonight, just wanted to make sure it wil (FINALLY) work

 

It worked!! Follow the steps I listed in my previous post and it should do the trick. What it seems to do is simply wipe all residual bad data from the corrupt install and start fresh. Fortunately it doesn't rid you of your save game so you should be able
to pick up where you left off.

 

Can I retrieve my gamer tag first because I bought it digitally on 360 first and need my account to redownload AW

@the slipperman Thank you. Great step-by-step instructions. It worked perfectly. I can finally get past Aftermath without a problem. As for online that will be a test for tomorrow but I figure any bugs to be worked out can be fixed and patched. (And hopefully
upgraded to dedicated servers eventually.) Im just glad this whole install mess is over. Literally 5 reinstalls. Hope to never have to do this in another game that's for sure. No day zero but whatever, $60 didn't go to a complete waste. If anybody else is
having troubles, follow slippers steps and be patient during install, don't touch your Xbox.

No problem! Yeah, it was quite the relief to go through that damned intro cutscene for the umpteenth time and have the game NOT freeze afterward. And hey -- at least you still have the extra Exo-Suit and two weapons! Best of luck on the multiplayer front,
hope it all works.

All I know is I'm never going digital again. It's really nice to be able to take the game back if it doesn't work.
