Co-Op Coming to Titanfall in Next Update

It's been a long time and I've always said I wanted TF with a co-op mode and now they finally bring it! I will definitely be firing this up over the weekend. Hopefully I can talk my buddy into playing with me.

 

This update should have been one of the first they released, as opposed to now. I haven't played TF in many months and had no plans to even return to it. I always said that the reason it didn't have much longevity and no reason for me to return was because
of the lack of SP and/or co op mode(s).

I would have been all over this, if they had done it before Destiny released. Now, between Destiny, Middle Earth: SOM and the release of TMCC being only a few weeks away... Sorry Respawn... you're a day late and a dollar short IMO.

 

What I'd really like is a Bots single player mode. I'd love to explore the maps a little and not worry about letting my team down.

 

I love this game. A lot of people complain about the lack of content but personally I don't mind not having to go through 50 weapons to find one I like ala battlefield. The game encourages 3 dimensional thinking. Not sure how much a coop mode will reignite
people's interest but any addition to a game is a welcome one.

A regular Die and stay dead mode? A don't touch the ground mode? And a Horde Mode? Blessed be thou Respawn Entertainment!! You have heard my prayers! Titanfall is about to be become freaking awesome all over again!

 

So is this a free update that drops today? I really wanna try this co-op mode.

The new update is great.

Regarding the co-op mode, I had a go of it. You have to play 3 games of it before you can create your own custom matches, so to begin with all you can do is a quick match. I was matched up with gen 1, gen 3 and gen 5 pilots (I'm gen 10).

You have to defend a transmitter at one end of the map. There's new enemy types, such as suicide spectres that explode, nuke titans that try to get near your transmitter and then nuclear eject, and mortar titans that can fire mortars at your transmitter
from across the map, forcing your team to split up.

After you complete each round you get a turret that you can place anywhere on the map. There's also ammo crates lying about and if you run up to one of those you can change your load-out, if your current one isn't working particularly well.

My main worry with it is how short it is and how easy it is. Each game is played over 4 waves of increasing difficulty, but even on the first go and with random players who weren't using mics, we completed it fairly easily.

The good thing about COD zombies, for example, is that it just keeps going and getting harder, so the objective is to try and get further and further and work out better gameplay strategies. With this, it's 4 waves and you're done. It was fun to play, don't
get me wrong, but I think when people play it they will either say "there needs to be more waves!" or "it needs to be a lot harder!", cos a team of friends playing with mics on won't find this much of a challenge.

 

@Sigma, ooo TF Zombies or Extinction that sounds interesting, however it does sound very limited so I won't be rushing to it, but will keep it in mind.

Sigma, you called that short and easy! I called it an exercise in frustration! We were swarmed with enemies lost all 3 rounds and had 2 of the 4 players leave early on! NOT fun...

 

@DaKingB33 - No, it's 4 player online co-op, so it's 4 players vs. AI controlled enemies.

@GG - Maybe it was beginner's luck. I chose an amped smart pistol for the start of wave 1 and I was owning spectres with that, which meant I could call my titan in earlier and do some real stomping. To be fair, my team mates were very good too.

I think this is easily the best update to Titanfall yet. It fixed the issues I had with the game, and the matchmaking/lobby stuff is now silky smooth - better than it's ever been - while adding really good new content. I'm loving the ranked mode, because
I found going up levels and generations to be addictive, but obviously that stopped when I hit gen 10, level 50 some time ago. Now I can rank up instead, so that addictiveness is back.

Respawn have done a fantastic job supporting this game.
