Cloud syncing blows chunks! ;-)

My guess would be, with the new D.L.C. for Fallout dropping, syncing is having problems. Downloaded the the new D.L.C. last night and have about a hour to play while the girlfriend is out running errands...NO! Freaking game won't sync; stays at 1%, makes
it to 20%, then tells me to play offline. Third attempt, goes to 54% lightning fast, then stops and tells me to play offline. Third attempt finally goes though in seconds. 8 minutes wasted! I'd threaten to buy a PS4, but already have one. Lol.

Seriously though, M.S. needs to have a option to carry saves on a U.S.B. flash; I'd even settle on the external. I can make saves on the competitors console and not worry about a finicky Cloud. There are those that say it's about keeping people from cheating
(Some on the forums and a couple of my friends.); some nonsense about "hackers" plugging flash drives into a P.C. and modding files...rubbish! I can plug the X Box One directly into my P.C., or even my external, for that matter, if wanting to manipulate files.
Get with the program M.S. and quit holding my saves hostage in the Cloud! -_- Lol.

Hmm...I thought game saves were stored on the local HD and the cloud?? (Local drive if the cloud is not available?)

My local save is one and a half hours away at my house; if I used the local save here, it would be 20 to 30 hours behind. I bounce from console to console, whether it be the girlfriends house or friends. With the 360 it was easy as carry a U.S.B. with saves
on a lanyard around my neck.

I don't know, it's not like an external HDD is proprietary, so in that aspect just how much difference is there between that and a flash drive if someone were thinking about trying to access game files and alter them?

Have to wonder if they just decided not to bother with flash drive support since external HDDs aren't that much bigger and are portable easily enough. Though... I wouldn't wear one on a lanyard around my neck...

Seriously only carried it around my neck when I knew there was travel. If I put them in the computer case with the rest of my personal and work drives, it would take awhile to figure out which was which...I'm a bit disorganized with my flash drives. Lol.

Carry the external with me...I would have guessed the saves where on there. That doesn't seem to be the case.

Interesting...with my machine the game saves are wherever the game is stored. Since I store ALL my games on external drive, they have always been with me when I take the external drive. Wonder if there is a setting for this?

 

^I have 90% of my games on the external, and a few small arcade type games on the internal. Maybe it's a glitch or I'm missing something, but offline showed the last save I played (6day/?hours) here and not the 7+ days that's at my house; Minecraft is the
only other game that gave problems syncing, and that has stopped since upgrading the internet. Doesn't happen very often, and I'm sure it was because the servers were overloaded with the new D.L.C. that came out, though I would feel better with a flash backup.

Used to keep my profile on a flash too...go over a friends, play, take my information home with me. I think it's more secure than leaving your info (Unless you sign-out of all consoles feature on the P.C..) on what could be several X Box One s.

I'm leaving for home in a couple hours...I'll make sure to move everything to the external and try playing offline at first on my box and see what happens.

Before I left my girlfriends made sure there was nothing regarding Fallout 4 on her X Box. While "managing" game there was my save data in the upper right hand corner, and upon selecting it there was just the option to "delete from console"...no option to
move or copy. Got home plugged the hard drive in, powered on, then selected "go offline.". Proceeded to pop in Fallout 4 and found only the save before I left several days ago. Went back online and started up Fallout 4 again and got something along the lines
of the console save was different than the Cloud save, and which did I want to play. Choose the Cloud save, it synced, and away I go.

I feel like going off on another rant about Microsoft holding my saves hostage in the Cloud...but I won't. It's getting late and I have to work tomorrow. Maybe another day. Lol.

But the cloud is the future of gaming! There will be no discs or even consoles, everything will be streamed. I can't believe this blasphemy!

 

All I know is Cloud's Drivatar in my Forza games was responsible for me learning many a new swear word.

 

I think all of the cloud cars in forza are driven by Nintendos Wii Fit Trainer.
