Microsoft may have an advantage owning servers; however, at the point when cloud gaming is offered on smart TVs Nintendo’s Mario, Zelda, Metroid, ect will be the real winner. They may face the cost of renting servers from Azure, AWS, etc but they would likely have the most valuable games to customers. Followed in second by Sony with Spider-Man and uncharted and possibly/preferably closely followed by Microsoft’s catalogue

The ABK merger isn’t that relevant imo as competitive games such as CoD, Overwatch, ect will be better played on a dedicated console or PC and graphically intensive games would take more server power to run and transmit the video back to the streaming device such as a smart TV

The smart TV market opens up a large customer based that are already spending money on monthly subscriptions for entertainment

Nintendo’s classics and large catalogue would require less processing power (assumably on a virtual machine? But I’m no expert in that) allowing lower server rental costs for running the less graphically intensive games. They would also benefit from a continuous, predictable revenue stream (digital goods have zero marginal cost economically too)

I’m for allowing all the companies to benefit. And to be completely open, I could see cloud effecting Xbox console sales negatively with the possibility Xbox/Microsoft become more competitive software wise with a combination of gaming intellectual properties and software like direct X or game engine development and not hardware. Possibly leaning towards a focus on PCs and offering Xbox as a viable console/PC platform that sits between Nintendo and Sony power wise while offering basic PC functionality and mid range game functionality. Further diversifying the products offered

This is one possibility of the market evolution over time. I think this would be a realistic expectation that helps all the companies and the customers while retaining the benefits of competition in the market.

Worth noting would be the investment in server hardware and software needed for peak hours operation. Any excess or unused power could be used for scientific research and similar to folding at home and running simulations for cures for diseases and cancers. This focus could benefit Microsoft’s machine learning and scientific research teams.

Gaming has historically been the driving factor in advancing technology due the money it puts into the market. Let’s try to do the best we can with this.

Keyboard and mouse on XCloud SmarTv Samsung

    Hi Kaissa,

As explained above, keyboard and mouse unfortunately isn’t compatible with Cloud gaming at the moment. There are various controllers that are supported, though.

    Refer to this guide:

Cloud gaming with the Xbox app on your smart TV | Xbox Support

which includes a section confirming what controllers are compatible and how to connect a controller to your smart TV

    Also see:

Cloud gaming with Xbox | Xbox Support

    Hope this helps.

I want to know if the G920 steering wheel will work on a samsung smart TV cus my friends said it does but I don't really trust 'em.

Smart TVs typically do not have native support for complex gaming peripherals like the Logitech G920. These devices are usually designed to interface with PCs or gaming consoles through specific drivers and software that a Smart TV doesn't support.

If you're using Xbox Cloud Gaming (previously known as xCloud), the primary compatibility concern is whether the cloud gaming service and the device you're using it on (in this case, your Samsung Smart TV) support the G920. As of my last update in April 2023, Xbox Cloud Gaming primarily supported standard Xbox controllers.

Is there any way i can use a mic on Tv with xbox cloud gaming whilst playing fortnite?

Hi, Adam_719! Thank you for reaching out.
I'm AJ, an Independent Advisor for the Xbox Community.

Unfortunately, microphone output is not yet supported when Cloud Gaming on a Smart TV. For your reference, the following information has been quoted from an official Xbox Support page:

"Microphone output isn’t currently supported when cloud gaming via the Xbox app on a smart TV. A fix is coming soon. You can still use your headset to hear game and chat audio."

    Source - https://support.xbox.com/help/friends-social-activity/parties-chat/how-to-start-a-party

For your reference, this is also mentioned in the following support pages:

As a fellow gamer, I understand this is likely not the answer you were hoping for. I'm sorry, Adam.

Please feel free to reach out if you have any further questions, I'd be happy to help.

    Best regards.

Is it possible to have the Xbox in its usual spot down stairs, but play the games sat in the bedroom on another tv, upstairs?

Hi David! I'm Rostom, an Independent Advisor. I will be glad to help you here.

I am afraid that's not possible because a smart TV doesn't support remote play. However, if you have a smart Samsung TV, you can use the Xbox Cloud gaming. It needs an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription.

Please check the link below to know more about setting it up on Smart TV.

    Microsoft Flight Simulator Xbox Cloud

    Hi there!

Did you subscribe to Game Pass or Game Pass Ultimate?
    Confirm it on https://account.microsoft.com/services

Please note the Smart TV only uses Cloud Gaming which requires the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate.

Be sure to check the device requirements below:

The Xbox cloud gaming app currently runs on 2021 and newer Samsung smart TV models with software version 1300 or higher. To check your software version, press the Home button on your TV's remote and select Menu > Settings > Support > Software Update. The current version is listed on the right side of the window.
To verify that your Samsung TV supports the Xbox app, go to your TV's app store and then enter xbox in the search box. If you see the Xbox app, your TV will support cloud gaming with Xbox.
