Here is my solution to the problem so that everyone is going to be happy, but it is going to be really really reallly expensive!

..........

(1) Start the development of the game with 2 seperate teams (team Xbox 360 and team Xbox One)

(2) Make the games at the same time. Team Xbox 360 will optimize the game for the Xbox 360 and Team Xbox One will optimize the game for the Xbox One. Obviously, the Xbox One version will have features that will not be available for the Xbox 360 version.

(3) Release the game at the same time. If a version of the game is finished before the other one, it will wait until the other one is finished.

Now, everyone will be happy and the Xbox 360 will be optimized for the Xbox 360, but lack features that only the Xbox One version can accomodate.

What do you think of this really really really expensive system to ensure the best quality for the Xbox 360 version and Xbox One version?

I think you would be bankrupt pretty quickly and never get to release a game if you were a developer.

It's something publishers are already doing, for now.

Back to the Advanced Warfare example, Sledgehammer Games is the developer but they're only responsible for maintaining XB1, PS4 and PC - High Moon Studios, a separate entity owned by Activision, is the port team - they're responsible for maintaining 360
and PS3.

It is my understanding that last gen players' experience with MP has been flaky, but I wouldn't know.

Because it's still in its infancy. I can't think of any game in this generation or on previous ones that has (keyword) pushed the limits of what the hardware can do this early. Can you?

Well put. Game developers are making games for Xbox 360 because Microsoft did a super awesome job on the Xbox 360 platform with the console's UI and Xbox Live Features that there is a higher active population on Xbox 360 than there is on Xbox 1. So game
developers see a demand for putting it on last gen as well as making it for next gen. But Xbox 1 won't be turning 2 until November this year, it hasn't been out for long. Halo and Forza are in 1080p because the game developers probably know the system better
and how to take advantage of the ESRAM memory which fact has a higher bandwidth (192GB/s) than even GDDR5 (176GB/s or something). And DDR3 has low latency so the DDR3 RAM has easy access to the ESRAM even though it's only a small amount of memory, it's fast
memory. Halo is by 343 industries. Games made by them for Xbox 1 should be in 1080p since they're a Microsoft subsidiary so should 'know' the system's potential.

Kinect Sports Rivals is not on Xbox 360 I think. Zoo Tycoon X360 version has no Kinect features no multiplayer smaller zoo population due to hardware restrictions. I have Screamride and Minecraft for BOTH Xbox 360 and Xbox 1 and I can honestly tell you the
performance is better on Xbox 1 (as well as the graphics). But the XBL experience with friends is richer on Xbox 360 since there are fewer players on the Xbox 1 platform compared to Xbox 360 platform and Microsoft has got a lot of feedback on not everyone
is for this Windows 8 UI, they prefer the Xbox 360 UI. Companies are going to keep supporting 360 as long as it's popular which it is. And at the same time, making games for a platform according to how they know the system's capabilities.

Do I think this trend will continue in 2017? No. There will always be a reduced number of cross platform games, but everyone will have jumped to Gen 8 by then. It'd surprise me if the remaining major publishers dropped earlier than this date - Ubisoft said
that they're not making any more Gen 7 games for instance.

well see, IF Im not mistaken Elders Scrolls is NOT on the 360?? Im downloading it on my ONE right now an I will bet its going to be epic!

 

Just came home and found a copy of Fallout 3 and Fallout New Vegas waiting for me..... guess my 360 aint going to be buried yet...... woot!! (I love my wife!)

Thanks Lei Fang, so far enjoying New Vegas, has a Skyrim feel which is what I was hoping to experience. Fallout 4 will be a day one buy for me on my X1.

It is quite interesting going back to my 360...... makes me appreciate my X1 that much more. I know I sound like a broken record here but between the poor controller feel (compared to the X1), the noise the 360 makes!! (OMG...... I forgot how loud it is
playing a disc)..... it is time to let the last gen.

360= a car with a carburetor and a V4

X1 = a car with EFI and a V8 turbo + chip!

 

If you havnt played either of them before 3 is the better game and will introduce Vaults lore much better. Leaving the vault for the first time in 3 is a truly epic gaming moment!

 

I don't let little things like disk drive sound or slightly degraded graphics get to me. I could easily fire up my 360 and play it again, if there was a game that I felt like playing, which is about zero right now. I would LOVE to go back to Fallout 3,
but I feel like it was adequately completed. And I'm not like my friend that can put 200 hours into a game and start over again for another 200 hours. I only did that with like 2 games in my gaming history.

I am the same way too when it comes to games (not wanting to start all over again with a new character after I beat the game).

The only time that I've ever played a 2nd run through with a new character was in Mass Effect (got deleted because I got tired of it) and Diablo 3 (still there).

I haven't been on my Xbox 1 console in 7 days. I'm on it now. Just goes to show what a great job Microsoft does with Xbox 360. To me, Xbox 360 still has the most HYPE, since it has a higher active population than Xbox 1 does. Some may say why did I get an
Xbox 1 Day One edition console with Kinect, well I was immature and it is Xbox. And I like to experience what both, not just 360, are like. Some people have regretted trading in their 360's for Xbox 1. Other's may be jealous not to have an Xbox 1.
