    Since the newest update the ease of access settings on all video apps are affected, so while it began with my noticing on Youtube, it is a Microsoft issue.

    We need, high contrast text options for youtube, netflix and hulu etc. to be uniform across all platforms and apps on xbox one; A major requirement for every developer making apps that are available on Xbox1 should be Ease of access should at the very least
    let u use the xbox custom caption settings; if that is not possible without over haul, the the text needs to be YELLOW so it is contrast to most videos; as a white text it is illegible , and as a Deaf family it is nearly impossible to comprehend content without
    much difficulty. Captions are the visual equivalent of wheel chairs, its not fair to change them constantly with no standard and expect that you are creating access simply by having them available. Yellow is a recognized norm (although no standard exists that
    I am aware of, painfully) preferably yellow with a slight black drop shadow so that regardless of the image or video upon which it is overlaid, it is in high contrast and useful. I applaud Youtube for caption inclusion and Google in general for progressing
    audio to text conversion on the fly, while not perfect it has helped tremendously: but the effort is useless if the text is illegible. Thank you for your consideration from my Deaf wife and myself.

    closed captions

    I have the CC problem solved on the xbox 360 (at least for now) if anyone is still following this forum.

    press the xbox button/ scroll right to settings/ system settings/ console settings/ language and locale/ locale/ change to usa (you will be signed out of xbox live but don't worry)/ back out to console settings/ display/ closed captioning (it appears at
    the bottom in usa mode)/ turn all captions to off/ back out to console settings/ language and locale/ locale/ set back to Ireland or wherever you are experiencing this problem/ exit out to the main menu/ press the xbox button/ select connect to xbox live and
    presto, captions are off. i hope this works for everyone as it is working for me here tonight.

    Hi, check your tv settings for something named Closed Captions or something similar and turn that off. Also check the closed captions option on the xbox itself.

    Netflix Xbox one, randomly turns on closed captioning.

    Go to : settings, closed captioning , the chose closed captioning "off" . By default it is set to "on" ... Hope this helps

    Changing a game's language

    The only way to get subtitles in Portal 2 is by going into Audio Settings --> and then selecting Closed Captioning. If the desired closed captioning language is not there, i believe the game does not support the closed captioning you are looking for. Sorry.

    Can't turn off closed captions

    Okay I think I found a fix. Go into the Youtube App in Xbox 360 and find a video with closed captions. I just searched "closed caption" and chose the first video. Closed captions automatically came on, so I pressed "A" and went to "CC" on the option bar
    and clicked to turn captions off.

    Went into Gamecenter Live and the captions were gone!
