Clicking noise AND super hot console

Day one, setting up went fine but once I started download of Black Flag and Unity a small clicking noise started happening but would surge to a very loud clicking noise from time to time. Also, the SECOND I turn on the system the right hand side starts
heating up to a very high temperature. Keep in mind there is PLENTY of clearance all around the system. Just bought it yesterday. Taking it back to Best Buy to get a new one and hoping the new one isn't defective as well. Any help on what it is. I know
I have seen the clicking described as coil whine, but the severe heating up with it makes no sense to me. It doesn't sound like any kind of fan is running.

    :)

Xbox one s fan constantly loud/fast even when idle.

Since you say you blow dust out of it frequently: Are you using compressed air to blow the dust out? Do you make the fan spin by blowing compressed air into the console?

If you spin the fan by blowing compressed air on the fan, you might have damaged the bearing in which the fan is running in, and the bearing is now worn out, which can cause the excess noise.

So if you do not experience the clicking noise, but more of a constant buzzing or humming sound from a worn out fan bearing, you need to send in the console for repairs.

The console has built in temperature sensors, that regulate the fan, so the console doesn't get too hot. Should the fan fail or the console get too hot, the console will automatically shut off to prevent damage. So as long as the console is not showing an
error message about overheating, it's running fine.

However, if the console is still in warranty, you should get the fan serviced while still in warranty, if the noise is louder than normal from a worn out bearing.

I insert the disk and it makes grinding/clicking sounds

    Hey there everyone,

I'm truly sorry to hear about the odd noises that your Xbox One is making. Just to be super sure, are you guys

positioning your Xbox One console horizontally
? If so, I would next suggest trying out these troubleshooting steps.

    • If there is currently a disc in your Xbox One, eject it.
    • Power Cycle your Xbox One console by holding the Xbox button on the front of the console for approximately 10 seconds. The console will power down.
    • Once your console is completely off, unplug the console from the power source and give it a few minutes.
    • Then, plug all the cords back in and turn the console back on.
    • Now try inserting a disc and see if the grinding/clicking noises continue.
If you've gone through all of the troubleshooting steps listed above and you're continuing to experience the grinding/clicking noise, I would then recommend setting your console up for a repair. To get started, navigate to our

My console is really loud when running some games help!

Especially BF3 it will make a super loud noise. Try laying the console down if it's upright. Also, install the game to your HDD if you have enough room for it.
