  2. Clearing the Cache

So recently I cleared the cache on the Xbox One just to get all the junk I don't need out, but ever since I cleared it I can't sign in to my YouTube account, Twitch account, etc. And it is really bothering me. Can anyone tell me whats going on or how to
    fix it?

    Clearing Cache

not your saves or your cheevos.......All downloaded game updates will be removed. So if you have downloaded an auto-update for a game, in order to play it on Xbox Live you will need to re-download it. clearing the cache :D

The system cache is actually beneficial. It should only be cleared when there is an issue.

There would be no point in instant on if the X Box One didn't keep certain resources in memory. I have one X Box in Energy Saver and the other in Instant On...the one in Energy Saver is flawless, while the other has to be restarted every so often; more often
    if I use a lot of apps/games.

I don't understand the advice of unplugging it or holding down the power button for 10 seconds...if you go to settings under power/startup there is a option to "restart". Had to use it this morning when the dash started lagging and my controller was acting
    funky.

    Peace, J.R.

    clearing the cache

Put simply, a Force Shutdown. It's a common hardware option especially on PC's when the OS or system stops responding, you are left with a Force Shutdown, a fail safe option when the OS/system doesn't respond which involves pressing a button for a few seconds.
But others will tell you "you know that (force shutdown) is not good for your machine, right?".

I actually google Force Shutdown. It's like an emergency feature manufacturers put in their devices in case the OS or system freezes or becomes un-responsive (or if you're too lazy busy or impatient to wait for the OS to shut it down for you).

It can cause data corruption, it could damage chips and highly sensitive circuitry inside.

It seems from posts on this forum is answer 'do hard reset' 'do hard reset' 'do hard reset'. I think lots of people have done this lots of times to their Xbox 1 console. Maybe they should have opted in for a processor with a much more manageable cache size
or is Xbox 1 still using L1 cache or something (just kidding).

And since Xbox 1 console's have a non-removable internal 5400rpm HDD (these have been around for Y-E-A-R-S) I'm just curious if this hard reset thingy aka Force Shutdown is a good idea after all. Of course you could open up the console and pull it out, call
that removable, but I think messing around with inside your Xbox console is against the Xbox Rule Book and it automatically voids your console's warranty. Xbox 1 has external HDD support, but it isn't much fun running a console with a dead HDD inside of it.

I think Xbox 1 should have a UI/Software/OS function under settings to Clear the Cache without having to hard reset the console. Xbox 360 has this option where you can under settings clear the cache on your console without hard resetting it. Sorry for the
multiple post peps it feels like I'm the only one on this forum (at this time).

    Clearing Cache

Greetings, Sm311! Thanks for bringing your question to us. JUAN is correct, clearing your cache will allow you to re-download recent updates and will not remove your game files. Is there a particular reason you're thinking about clearing your cache? If your
update for Battlefield 3 downloaded correctly you shouldn't need to clear your cache. However, in case you ever need to do so in the future, here are the steps to take:

. Let me know if you have any more questions! :)

    Clearing Cache

If you are not having a problem with downloaded content or Profile, you do not need to clear the cache on the hard drive.

I have only cleared the cache once on 1 console due to update problem.

Clearing cache will delete any recient updates that were done, thinking it might be a problem. But won't delete the game, if install, or saves.
