  1. Cleaning question

Since Microsoft's prohibitive cleaning measures restrict me to a microfiber cloth, I was wondering if there was a specific type anyone could recommend. The one I use seems to push dust around on the Xbox (One) more than attract it to its surface. Yes, I
know there are other options than a microfiber cloth for cleaning but I'd really just like this question answered.

    :)

i would not suggest using copressed air because that is meant only for a componet that can be taken apart because you will only blow the dust aroud in side the counsle whitch in turn can create far more problems than your already having a shop vac is a good
idea but you can get esd or electro static discharge witch will fry your xbox if not done properly if your going to use a shop vac
UNPLUG THE XBOX and make shure something metal on you xbox's case is touching something metal that is conected to the floor like a metal table the best option is to use something called an antistatic
vaccum it should say esd approved and follow the dirctions accordingly. but i would just call microsoft because it sounds like its still under warrenty and tell them you need it cleaned they will have you send it in but at least you know if anything did happen
to it you would not be at fault and it would be fixed or replaced free of charge.

    Cleaning question

I just use some Kleenex facial tissues to wipe dust off the top of my Xbox 360 slim console, and Xbox 1 console and dust dust off the top and around my Sony KDL40EX720. It does a good job. At least I don't use cheap facial tissues. Paper towels are too big.
A duster is not suited for electronics from how I see it. I have some good micro-fibre clothes too. As long as you don't use a vacuum toothbrush or A-jack-spray-and-wipe.... just kidding Cleaning question :)

A professional answer would be use a good micro-fibre cloth ones best suited for cleaning HDTV's your laptop screen or something.

I vacuum the vents first and then use damp cottonwool sheets..... When I say damp, I mean only damp enough to pickup the dust instead of pushing it around. This also works great on TV screens.

I too pull the console and vacuum the vents and disc-slot once a week or so. The brush on the vacuum hose will scratch the shiny surface, but I'm over that at this point. Don't forget the power-brick too. Those little holes really tend to attract the "bunnies."

  8. Cleaning question

I use new or a clean swiffer duster or compressed air since a cloth is just guaranteed to still push dust around instead of lifting it off. Then clean off finger prints with zeiss disposable cleaning cloths. One microfiber cloth I would recommend I use on
everything besides my glasses are 3M textured microfiber cleaning cloth. Little dimple like texture makes huge difference compared to a smooth microfiber cloth. Texture helps pick up dust instead of pushing it around as well.

Really though I learned with my piano black PS3 that glossy black is going to get scratched up no matter how well you take the time to do it right.

Swiffer for surface dust and vacuum for vents. Then rubbing alcohol on a rag for the controller (germaphobe).

  10. You really should avoid using compressed air.

Ontop of obvious force damage you are just pushing the dust deeper into the console.

    Use a vacuum.

  12. White Spirit is always good for removing sticky stuff, like when a label leaves the sticky stuff on a CD case, as to whether it would deteriorate or damage the rubber i'm not sure - maybe with prolonged use.

What i personally would do is use White Spirit very sparingly to remove the sticky stuff and then use warm water with a tiny bit of washing up liquid to remove the White Spirit obviously being very careful doing this not letting any water get into any gap.

Just a quick warning, thinking about it as i don't know the 'Finish' of the rubber.

If the rubber has a shiny finish, the white spirit potentially could remove that too as it may be some sort of coating on the rubber.

Please bear that in mind Cleaning question :)

Call a professional cleaner. Problem solved ^u^

I just dust it once or twice a week. I'm not really obsessed over how it's cleaned. As for vacuum, you really do need to be careful and the vacuum can suck and maybe damage the internal hardware inside, some components inside it can easily break or be damaged.
Especially if you're vacuum's suction power is too high.

    Jack,

The first question I have to ask is are you experiencing any problems? If not, I would not attempt to use any type of compressed air, blowing into or vacuuming out debris, as this could cause problems. Doing so could also possibly
void your existing warranty. Each warranty is console type specific and can be found here

    http://support.xbox.com/en-US/xbox-360/repair/warranty-info
I would suggest that you send in your xbox to the repair department http://support.xbox.com/en-US/xbox-360/repair/repair-process
    Good Luck!
