    I have recently got a hold of classic xbox games and wanted to play them, but my dvd drive doesn't seem to want to load any games or CDs, i have had a look and I'm guessing a new lens or even whole dvd would need replacing, if i do replace it (the current
    one is a Toshiba Samsung) does it need to be the same make or would a Hitachi, LG or other branded yet still compatible drive work in it?

    If you're trying to play the games on a classic Xbox or a Xbox 360, then we can't really help you, since the consoles aren't serviced by Microsoft anymore, and instructions for self repair are not allowed here.

    But as an advice:

    You can't simply switch the drives of the Xbox 360 console. The drive and motherboard are cryptographically "married", and even if you replace the drive with the same make and model, the key in the drive won't fit the key in the motherboard, and the drive
    won't work.

    I don't think you'll be able to get that info here - you're best bet is to speak to someone that fixes original xboxes. usually your local mom and pop shop can assist.

    By classic, I'm assuming you mean Xbox original, if so, then if you are using a Xbox 360, then make sure the games are backward compatible, by checking this list on here

    https://support.xbox.com/en-GB/games/backward-compatibility/play-original-xbox-games-on-xbox-360     and make sure your Xbox 360 console has an official Xbox 360 hard drive installed as well, otherwise they will not work.

    If you are trying to play the games on a Xbox One, then make sure the games are backward compatible, by checking this list

    https://www.xbox.com/en-gb/xbox-one/backward-compatibility     If they are not on the list, then the games will not work.
