    Classic Gamertag issue


    Good day!

    I previously changed my Gamertag to Bob Harris. Xbox added the number 7390 at the end, which is the actual tag, I understand that. I was told the numbers were not meant to be seen in actual gameplay, just in profile, so I was okay with it. But there are
    some apps and games like Sea of Thieves that don't support this system and instead put the 4 numbers right next to my name like this: "Bob Harris7390" It looks horrible, so I opted to change just the problematic "classic" Gamertag to "" (so it doesn't
    interfere with the software that still don't support this "new" Gamertag system), keeping Bob Harris (#7390) as the main one. The thing is it won't let me change it without editing it altogether. What can I do without having to waste money 2 more times just
    to choose the same name again?

    You actually show as having a classic gamertag and a new gamertag. So some areas will still show the old gamertag (classic gamertag).

    I'm trying to change my classic gamertag which is the one you see in games. My classic gamertag got changed and my Xbox One and Xbox App gamertag stayed the same (the Xbox One gamertag is the ones they added with the new gamertag system).

    My Xbox One gamertag is different to my in-game gamertag and I want my classic gamertag to be changed. You can only change your classic gamertag on the Xbox One console, I have tried using the other ways and you can only change your Xbox Gamertag, not your
    classic gamertag.

    The reason I want to change my classic gamertag is that the classic gamertag can be fifteen characters and the Xbox One gamertag can only be 12 characters. If I use the other ways to change my gamertag it limits me to 12 characters and sets both my gamertags
    to that.

    Xbox gamertag changed on my Xbox profile but not in game

    If you have 2 gamertags, the top one is your new tag and the one on bottom is the "classic" gamertag. In areas that haven't been updated to work with the new gamertag system, the classic gamertag will show up. That's why you still see it in games.

    Depending on how you changed your tag, you can have a new gamertag as well as a classic gamertag. The classic tag would show up anywhere that the new gamertag system is not in place. The only way to fix it is to change it again.
