Claiming games with gold through xbox.com, WITHOUT adding a card?

Is this even possible?

I have not set up my xbox 360.

It's the 360 games I can't download for free on my xbox one that I want to 'claim' through xbox.com. That way, if they come out as backward compatible on xbox one I'll be able to see them in my 'ready to be installed' section of 'my games & apps', then just
download them.

But in trying to download Operation Flashpoint, via this site, it's asking for credit card info.

I don't wanna register any of my cards with XBL, in case somehow I mess up and gold automatically renews when it expires. I use codes off the ebay/amazon because they're cheaper than buying gold directly from MS.

Anybody know how to download the games with gold for 360 from this website?

Games with gold: Redeeming through Xbox.com?

Hi all,

Can't find a suitable subforum to place this in. I was redirected here from a support page. Can't find a forum related to Games with Gold or support,

I just read a discussion online on Games With Gold 'backward' availability (= If you had gold during the time, but didn't actually download...), the most heared argument against it was "Whatever is going on you could always redeem it on Xbox.com!". Reminded
me, I tried this years ago, couldn't figure it out. Just tried to find out again, still can't do it. Is this the correct page to go to if I want to redeem stuff?

Games with Gold | Xbox Live

I was linked there from the FAQ (and from other places), but all I see is a big image and a button to 'Become a Gold Member'. While I am logged in on XBox.com and am currently on a 1 year Gold subscription. When I tried a couple years back, I was also logged
in and subscribed to gold.

Am I just not looking in the right place? I hope you can help me figure it out, already missed a couple which I definitely would've redeemed if it was just a few clicks away. Don't wanna miss any more!

Strange Issue with XBOX LIVE-Newbie issue

Is the account you applied the Gold account to the same as the one you have just posted with? If so, it says you have a Silver Account. When did you redeem the code, how did you redeem it? Through the console or through Xbox.com?

After claiming a code it can take a little while to update your status in the system. When that changes to GOLD you can re-try the Worms download and it should complete.

 

You may not want to use it either but another option is you could set up a Pay Pal account. Or you could simply set up a credit card and once you have downloaded the game remove it as a payment option. Happy Gaming!

God, why is this more complicated than it should be?

When I click on 'change payment option', nothing happens. It's also giving me the game in dollars even though I'm in the UK?

This sort of stuff NEVER USED TO HAPPEN ON XBOX. I had a ps3 and xbox 360. Bought the xbox one and skipped ps4 because games on the ps3 used to take so long to download. The EASE of use was why I stayed with MS and went for xbox one.

The fact that this happens I think is starting to highlight why Sony is destroying MS this generation. Before as well I updated Twitch and then it wouldn't start, every time I opened the app it closed its self. I had to restart the xbox so twitch would work.
Also, achievements aren't popping when they should, they're somehow delayed. And if we stream on twitch we can't stream voices (from other players) but people on the ps4 can. The dashboard is also very cluttered and the UI honestly is terrible.

Beginning to think now about getting a ps4 and if it gives me a solid experience, getting rid of the xbox one and next generation staying with Sony.

How can MS not FIX THESE ISSUES STRAIGHT AWAY???

I had this same 'add a card' thing with Thief. For the past 2 days it told me to add a card (from the console) but today it seems to have been removed. It's honestly ridiculous. The very reason I stayed with MS - for simplicity and why I don't PC game is
starting to let me down.

Also just downloaded halo reach, the frame rate is horrendous.

How do I change the website to the UK version of even add paypal?

Sorry for the rant mate I appreciate the help but thought I'd publicly write my frustrations.

 

Update: Don't need help now. Added paypal and removed it. God knows why it took me to the USA xbox.com.

Weirdly, you go from xbox.com to microsoft.com and have to click on 'xbox games' or something in a dropdown box to get back to the xbox website.

The forums imo need to be more of an integral part of XBL. Years ago they were booming!

And the way in which you transfer from xbox to microsoft should be in buttons across the top of the page. As in a 'microsoft products', with email, xbox, etc.

The UI for these websites is terrible man. MS has missed so many opportunities to become the standard. Like when MSN was a thing and we had profiles on it, there would be no need for facebook or myspace if our microsoft email profiles integrated it.

I feel as though MS is too focused on what the different departments do, rather than stepping back and looking at the bigger picture, but maybe that's just me.
