    Claiming free with Gold XBox One Games on a XBox 360


    Hi,

    I haven't upgraded yet to a XBox One but until a couple of months ago I was still able to add the XBox One games that were free with gold to my account via my XBox 360. My understanding was that these games would then be available to me when I did finally
    get round to upgrading. However now whenever I try to select any of the free XBox One games nothing happens, no error message nothing! I can still download the free XBox 360 games and I know my gold membership is valid.

    Anybody else experienced this? Anybody know a way around it?

    I've tried claiming my free games via the Xbox website on my laptop but this doesn't seem to work either. I either get a message saying that the game can't be downloaded because I'm not using a compatible device (I don't want to download it just add it to
    my account) or when I get to the games details page it isn't shown as free!

    When Xbox games with gold existed u get Xbox 360 games free and Xbox one games free. The Xbox one games u claim for free are only free with a gold subscription when it was gold. Now it's gamepass core. But when Xbox games with gold was a thing the Xbox 360 games u get for free are permanent. But Xbox one games are not. U have to keep ur gamepass core to have access to your free to play Xbox one games with gamepass core that u claimed with gold back then.

    To claim xbox 360 games with bc for xbox one you need a valid method of payment linked to your account, in case of free games with gold a purchase of 0,0$ will be registered.

    Hi, to add to previous comments- Xbox Live Gold comes with a feature called “Games with Gold” that allows you to claim two Xbox One games and two Xbox 360 games each month. The Xbox One games through this program are free for you to play while your Gold
    subscription remains active; the Xbox 360 games are yours to keep for free forever even if your subscription expires. Games with Gold can be obtained with a subscription to Xbox Live Gold, but can’t be obtained with a prepaid code trial membership for 2-14
    days.

    To claim 360 games with gold for xbox one you need to have linked with the account a valid method of payment, credit card. In this case a purchase of 0,00$ is registered while claiming the game.

    Since the account is that of a minor and not allowed to purchase online, it cannot claim the 360 games with gold for xbox one.

    Thank you for coming to the forums. When trying to redeem or claim one of the free Xbox 360 games, either on the console or online, you need to select "See price" and then it will re-direct you to the Xbox 360 marketplace. The Xbox One Store and the Xbox
    360 marketplace are different sites and backwards compatible content is still purchased from the old marketplace billing system.

    As long as you are signed into the account that owns the gold subscription, you will be able to claim the game for free.
