Choppy / crackling headset audio on various games.

So I'm getting some annoying intermittent audio issues through my headset. Games I've had the issue with -

Star Wars Battlefront II - Constant audio stutter and sometimes audio cuts out completely or audio cuts to a buzz.

Ghost Recon Wildlands - Audio stutter when near water or in a helicopter

Forza Horizon 3 - Audio stutter constantly

Monster Hunter World - When in areas with high ambient sounds (windy / water etc) audio becomes choppy

I have a first gen XB1 (only 18 months old), an elite controller & Turtle Beach headset.

I've tried different controllers

I've tried a new headset

I've tried new cables

I've tried adjusting the headset audio settings

Audio through the TV is fine, its just through the headset.

Any solutions?

Red Dead Redemption jerky when playing.

Since the August 1st 2016 update. Red Dead Redemption has had terrible frame rate drops and extremely choppy game play.

Also the audio has a ton of static when navigating. Crackling etc.

Sound too quiet with new headset adaptor.

I think some people hear the crackle more, if you go to the dash and move tiles as the sound stops there is a crackle, it's like a second audio stream has left the mix and it causes an audio level blip. You also get it to a point in game, I notice it more in menu's than in the thick of action but it's there.Click to expand...

The confusion is that there are multiple instances of crackle that seem different....

1) Crackle on voice chat from using headsets plugged into the new adapter - MS acknowledged and are working on fixing, I presume in the next update.

2) Nasty and loud crackle on ALL headsets in every situation, dash, game menu, game - hard reset fixes

3) A faint crackle on some headsets when on menu's such as the dash as you describe here - only affects some users and I think MS have said they are working on a fix.......

If there are any physical objects between the Xbox console and controller, it can potentially cause interference. Especially remove any metal obstructions. You’ll get the best signal if both the console and controller are in line of sight of each other.

Wireless interference from any devices emitting radio signals or other electrical waves can possibly affect your audio quality too, like phones, routers, active power supplies, and so on. Keep your console and controller clear of those as well if you can.

At least for me, the game audio quality from the controller is very sensitive to these factors.

The xbox sits no more than 50cm away from me when I'm playing (I sit at a desk). Could my PC speakers be affecting it? Although they're not turned on, they are plugged in.

That is not the issue. It has nothing to do with the headset or controller for game output audio on stream. We need help with choppy game audio. It may be for copyright reasons but still, other people on PC make it work fine.

I do not have access to another controller, but changing headset did nothing. The audio was still choppy.
