Chipped inside of disc

Ordered a copy of MW3 online. The inside ring of the disc has a really tiny piece chipped off. This is on the INSIDE of the disc. Should I return it or should I just forget about it? I haven't had any issues with it.

Is there a way to tell if a piece of a chipped disc is in your console

Hi,

There's no concrete way to tell if there's a chipped/cracked disc piece inside your console. You can try to move the console while it's off on each of it's 4 sides and see if you hear something moving inside, I guess that would be the best way to tell if there
was something inside or not. It's a hard problem to really diagnose without being able to look inside because you don't know if it's actually in there, or if it's stuck on something inside the console.

 

Halo Reach Disc problems

Weird.. My disc has the top layer or so chipped off random sections of the middle ring. Hardly ever even take Reach out of the console.

 

It's really going to come down to you, but I mean with a little chip like that, it can easily progress into a crack if the disc is constantly spinning or the pressure of taking it in and out of the case. Do you install your games to the HDD?

Personally though, I would return it just to be safe, you don't want to really want to play the game and your disc is ruined and you can't return it because you waited too long.

 

I do install the games yes, but the chip is physically inside the disc. It's very very small, but still noticeable. Its towards the bottom of the design on the disc.

 

Man, like I said, there is now a structural weakness in that disc, no matter what way you look at it, it's weaker and will be more open to cracking. You either take the risk and don't replace it or replace it.

Just don't complain if it does eventually give way because you knew the risk!

 

Alright. I just chatted with xbox support and they said as long as the chip isn't where content is read it should be fine. I'll just pray it works fine I guess.

 

Oh and to add, I cannot feel it when I put my finger over it, it is literally between the plastic casing of the disc on the outer ring. So I honestly don't know if it would be weaker or not!

 

I'm sure it would read fine. it is definitely weaker imo, but that doesn't mean it will definitely crack one day. If it was me though, just to be safe, I would replace it.
