Chill out on the Chat bans

Seriously... For the amount of money a person pays for xbl these bans are getting ridiculous. Most of these games are rated M and trash talk comes with the territory. XBL gives out bans so often it's getting obnoxious. Especially since a lot of the time,
it's when you get baited into a conversation and then you get that msg from taking it a step over.

Also, the new forum looks like awful. I can't imagine how much you're paying your web developers for garbage.

Harry, my brochachu just got an 2011. GT would have been nice but the Pony Package is enough for him. Still has a nice kick. to be single with no kids again........

I hear yeah, been trying ot spend more time with the kiddos too. Kinda nice though, they go to bed bout 8, play with wife till 10ish then I get to fck around on xbox.

Minecraft - meh. No guns or blood, not really for me.

It's human nature to defend oneself in any given enviroment, and you will always have provocitures, (spelling) bullies seeking to couch a negative reaction from you. The universal law is. "For every action there is an equal or opposite reaction."

Thus it is best NOT to fall into online provication traps by 1st, keeping your mouth shut. 2, block and reporting them. That way, enforcement ONLY has one gamer to penalize. Yet my guess is. They will clear the bully because it was a one way conversation.

Yes, I don't trust enforcement at all.

 

If you want to be picky only the single player portion of most games are rated.

The online portion of most games is unrated and from my understanding Microsoft operate a E for Everyone policy for interactions over Xbox Live.

If you are getting communication bans so often, then perhaps you need to take a step back and look at how you are talking to people. Perhaps your trash talk is crossing the line into abuse territory.

 

Yep,the age rating on a game just means that someone under that age can't buy the game,doesn't mean they can't play it & it doesn't apply to xbox live/online multiplayer.

Everything you do on live has to be rated E for everyone.

Trash talk is perfectly fine,it's what you say that can get you in trouble.

People have caught on that if they provoke you into replying to a message in a inappropriate way they can report you & you will most likely get suspended.

As mentioned,best to just report & block anyone being abusive over xbox live,that way you stay safe & they are the ones who get into trouble.

 

The other side of the fence says that for the amount of money a person pays for XBL, these bans aren't stringent enough. No matter what game one plays, trash talking and potty mouths can be found. Online interactions are NOT rated by any gaming organization,
they're governed by MS's ToU, CoC, which doesn't permit harassment or abusive behavior / language, period. Therefor, NO... trash talking does not come with the territory... especially if it's obnoxious or downright abusive, that's for sycophants and the products
of bad parenting.

Not that I particularly align with that extreme, but I am closer to it than I am to the belief that people should be free to trash talk with no boundaries. If you... anyone... get baited and lack enough self control to stop before "taking it a step over"
that's your problem. Even rodents can learn what baited traps look like and avoid them.

 

^The problem with your comparison is that you're assuming these Xbox Live members are as intelligent as rodents. We've seen way too much evidence to the contrary.

 

Nope its just peeps who make up these stories who spam why i got banned without thinking to themselves how and why they get banned. theyre the type of people who get into trouble with the law. if they can even follow simple rules.

 

It's not that often; XBL has just gotten soft and all the comments on this post are proving my point on how soft the community is. Taking a step over is just typing the wrong word. Seriously though, the Chat bans are ridiculous and for the amount of $ people
pay they shouldn't be given out as generously as they are.

 

Microsoft isn't going to be lenient on their rules just cuz you give them money, that's bribery. Why do you think we have laws, rules, regulations, etc. To exercise order, rules help keep us safe. Without rules, EVERYONE would get hurt. And when you hurt
someone, you get into trouble. Microsoft has standards. Your school or workplace has standards. BE CIVILIZED. Be disciplined. These kind of people do well and better in real life. Just cuz Xbox is meant to be fun, doesn't mean you can be a jerk or not watch
your mouth. It sounds like YOU are the one who is obnoxious and morally-impaired. You may think of us as soft, but not following the rules will do you more harm than good.

 

I fail to see how the comments on this page have proven your point or that we are soft op.Trust me,have a look at some of the posts on these forums from over the years ( if you can find them) & you will see the people posting here are far from "soft"

All we've done is point out the flaws in your argument.

Your comment about age ratings was wrong as was the comment about just because someone pays xxxx amount of money.

Some of us here have been with xbox since the very start & have spent thousands of pounds/dollars,doesn't mean we are exempt from the rules.

 

I don't agree with communication bans especially because the people getting abused have the tools to stop it, but I avoid communication altogether when I'm online. I just don't use a mic. I only listen to game sound. People could be cursing me out and I
have no idea. I don't like talking to people when I'm gaming.

 

I agree. XBL hasn't "gotten soft", in fact it's the exact opposite IMO. Many of the rude and arrogant individuals on XBL have gotten soft. The anonymity of online gaming is conducive to people saying things they wouldn't say if they were in a real gaming
room, full of real people. They can act like ***** all they want with little to no tangible repercussions. Many people probably don't bother to even read the ToU or CoC for XBL and just click "Accept" after simply assuming what it consists of and then they
apply their own convoluted theory of how it should work. Then, when their morally challenged idea of how it should work conflicts with the CoC and they get reported/banned, it suddenly becomes anyone else's fault but their own. "People need to get a thicker
skin" is one of the most popular defenses for it and is synonymous with "gotten soft".

I challenge anyone to answer this. Why are those who follow the CoC, act with a little common courtesy and treat others with a little respect the problem? If they're not the problem (and no... they're not) then how have they gotten soft? Short answer is
they haven't. So why should they be expected to put up with the behavior of those who have crossed the line? They shouldn't.

If anyone needs to toughen up, it's those who violated the CoC, or broke the rules in some way and then come on the forums to complain about the "unfairness" of the bans. The rules are what they are and final decisions on if they've been broken are up to
enforcement. For those who've gotten reported and had some kind of action taken against their account... no... it isn't XBL that has gotten soft... it is you who have gotten caught.
