    Childs xbox live account

Having massive trouble trying to set this up. Why is it so hard?? I am fairly computer literate. Can't even find a forum to post to nor a way to post to any forum except this one. Live chat says one minute but NEVER starts a chat. Anyway, first problem
when he logs in it want him to create an xbox profile. At the bottom, it asks for parent email . Then, it goes to a log in for the parent account. Once I sign in it just looks like an account but never loads my user name or his on the top right - nothing asks
me to give him permission. When I click on my account it then reverts back to the page asking him to set up a profile. A vicious circle and I have been at this all day. Please help or point me in the right direction. Thanks

    :)

    How to Join Xbox LIVE

This is the final step before you start enjoying the most amazing entertainment experience on Xbox LIVE.

The process is free and easy to follow.

You only require an valid email address and a high-speed internet connection.

There are two Membership levels available: Free and Gold. You can read more about what you get with each membership level.

    Before proceeding, confirm the following:

If you have a Zune or Games for Windows LIVE account, it means you already have an Xbox LIVE account! All you have to do is to download the account to your Xbox 360 console, sign in and start enjoying the Xbox LIVE experience.

If you have a Microsoft account, you can use it for your Xbox LIVE account.
Note: "Microsoft account" refers to what was formerly "Windows Live ID". It is the email address and password you need to sign into Microsoft services (including Xbox LIVE).

This means that if you already have a Messenger or Hotmail account, you automatically have a Microsoft account.

So, during registration for Xbox LIVE, if you are asked for an email address, enter your Microsoft account.

If you don't have a Microsoft account, you can sign up for a free account on your computer, or during the signing in process for Xbox LIVE.

If you decide to go for Gold Membership, you should have your credit card information ready before proceeding with the process of signing up for Xbox LIVE.

    Steps to follow

    1) On your controller, press Guide then select Join Xbox LIVE.

    2) Follow the instructions on the screen on how to sign up for Xbox LIVE.

Note: Make sure that you enter your correct date of birth when signing up. This will be used to determine whether you get a child account or an adult account. Once the account is created, you cannot change the date of birth.

Join Xbox LIVE Gold Family Pack

With the Xbox LIVE Gold Family Pack, your family is given four 12-month Gold Memberships for less than the price of two. If you are interested, just select Family Gold on the Subscription selection screen.

No option for Gold Family Pack?

You might be using a child account, or the Gold Family Pack does not apply to your region.

Here is a list of countries that have access to the Gold Family Pack:
    • Australia
    • Canada
    • United States
    • United Kingdom
    • Germany
    • France
    • New Zealand
    • Japan
    • Mexico

    Childs xbox live account

    Hi Big Daddy 3223,

Sorry you're having issues creating child accounts on your Xbox One. First let me ask you some questions, and then I'll go back to trying to answer yours as best as possible. First, does he/she have an Microsoft Live account created already? If so and the
age was correctly listed (under 18), you should have required to add him to your family safety plan. Second, if he has an account IS the age correct?

From the sounds of it, he does not have an Xbox Live account yet (which is fine). So if that's the case, first login to the console with your Live account. After that then have him create an account as stated above. It will ask you to add him to your family
if you haven't already linked him requiring a credit card and small fee (cents). After you've added them, then you will be able to edit their permissions in the console or online. See the link below and let us know if you have any questions.

Thanks for your help. I have been very frustrated with this. Thanks to your help I made it marginally closer. Yes - I created Microsoft live account for him and listed the age as under 18. As stated originally, when he tries to log in it wants him to create
an xbox profile and at the bottom it asks for parent email . Then, it goes to a log in for the parent account. Once I sign in it just looks like an account but never loads my user name or his on the top right - nothing asks me to give him permission. When
I click on my account it then reverts back to the page asking him to set up a profile. A vicious circle.

At your prompting I read "add a family member" and to went to the console. Got my profile downdloaded and password protected, etc. Then Home and over to settings and down to family settings. After putting in my passcode nothing says "add to family". I am
using an xbox360. Is this the problem?

Also, my console constantly disconnects from the router and when I try to reconnect it says there is an ip address error. None of the suggestions seem to help except rebooting the xbox360. Thanks again

    Hi Big Daddy 3223,

Sorry, the directions I sent were for the Xbox One, so yes the method of setting up child accounts is a bit different. And unfortunately I do not have a ton of experience setting this up on the 360 as I do the One. That said please follow the link below
and see if you can't get it squared away. It even has a video to help guide you Childs xbox live account :).

Converting offline account to Live account

Same issues. Couldn't migrate the offline account to a LIVE account for a child on the xbox. Had to set the account up online which generated a GamerTag. When I then went to the offline child account on the xbox it asked for the adult login to verify
    - did that - then it said the email address for the child account was already associated with an Xbox Live account. The only thing I could do is create a new profile on the Xbox. It's ridiculous there is no way to associate the new Live Account/Gamer Tag
to the exisiting offline account for a child account.

gta 5 wont play on my profile but will on different profiles

It could be because your xbox live account is a childs account. Child accounts cannot play rated M games.

    Removing Parental email conrtol

    Hello Travis,

As you may be aware Xbox LIVE determines whether an account is a child account or an adult account based on the age of the account owner. Account owners who are younger than 18 are given child accounts in the United States.

For this reason you need to have access to the parental account in order to promote a child account to an adult account. This promotion removes the Family Settings and Xbox LIVE restrictions:

To promote a child account to an adult account

Sign in to Xbox LIVE by using the account that you want to change.

Go to Settings, and then select Account.

    Select Promote Child Account.

Error 83118853 where is yesterdays acknowledgement of the problem

    Problem:

You see the following error and message when you try to sign in to Xbox Live using a child account:

Before you can sign in here, you'll need to sign in at Xbox.com.

An adult will also need to sign in so they can give permission.

    Code: 83118853

This means that the parent account must provide permission for each associated child account (under age 13) before the child can access Xbox Live

    Solution:

To resolve this issue, have the child account sign in to Xbox.com. Then, when prompted, the parent account associated with the child account should sign in to Xbox.com and give permission for the child account to sign in to Xbox Live.

If you keep experiencing the problem, contact Xbox Support.

How to modify date of birth in child’s account

You can't change a child account into an adult account once registered for xbox live. You can modify the DOB under your MS account's page yet that will not upgrade a child account into an adult account for the live service.
