    Child’s gamertag attaches to parent account


    Help! I incorrectly signed into my childs xbox at christmas as the parent and associated a new gamertag to my parent account, now, having realised this error said child does not want to lose progress etc. Associated with this gamertag, however i also do
    not want the child to have the parent account. what do i need to do to change this please?

    to add insult to injury, there is a balance of money on the childs original gamertag, any help appreciated, thank you

    Need answered question.

    There is an option on the Parent Account to remove a child from the parent account, but I'm not sure of a way to attach it to a different parent account.

    You might want to double check that. The only time you can have the same email attached to two accounts is when its really the parent email over a child account or the email has been disassociated from the gamertag and attached to a new one. Phone support
    is likely your best bet if its been associated to a new gamertag.

    you will get locked out of a lot of features due to the account being a child account, and you can't leave, only the parent can release the child account. there still hass to be a parent attached to the account too.

    If it's a child account he should have a parent account attached to it. You would need to sign into the parent account in order to submit a case review.

    If there is no parent account attached to the child account, then it will prompt the child to link a new parent account before it will allow to sign into Live... if it doesn't and there is no parental account, then the child account sounds like it's actually
    an adult account... either way, in this case the first thing I'd try is to delete the profile or profiles and then, using the WLID and password, redownload the profile...
