    Child's account not working on Xbox even after verfying


    My child cannot access any games using his xbox account. He is getting several errors one of which says the owner of the device has to log in. My account is working fine. On the family app it's saying we need to go to aka.ms/familyverify to verify. We have done this several times and still his account is not working.

    In addition I have also tried the following

    - removing and re adding him to the family account

    - removing all devices from his account and registering them again. Some of the devices just reappear on their own again without being registered like his old xbox.

    None of this has worked. This is becoming really frustrating

    Based on your description, your child cannot play games because of the error message for verification and permission to use the device prompts. Let us check on this together and sort this out in timely manner.

    We appreciate you have listed the things you have done so far however, we noticed that this concern was originally posted to Windows category. Thus, to make sure we understand your concern correctly, we would like to ask for details:

    1. May we confirm if your child is trying to play games on computer? Xbox Console? Mobile?
    2. What specific game/s your child is trying to play?
    3. May we ask for the screenshot of the issue? Please conceal any personal information.
    There are three things you can do with your child's account issue:

    • Please try to visit this link and see if you the organizer of Microsoft Family and if you needed to verify your child's account: Microsoft Family
    • Then, try to see if you see any error message when you try to sign in your child's account on this link: Microsoft Account | Home
    • Additionally, try to check the if there are child's privacy settings you need to set or allow. If your child is trying to play multiplayer games, you, as the parent or guardian or organizer of Microsoft Family, you need to allow your child to play multiplayer and join chat party. You may find this settings on your own account and select your child's gamer tag and explore these tabs: Privacy, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and Windows 10 devices Online Safety, and Xbox 360 Online Safety. Please use this link: https://account.xbox.com/Settings
    For troubleshooting, in any case the device you are using is truly computer and not Xbox Console or mobile, you may need to sign in your child's account on Microsoft Store and Xbox app. To make sure that all Xbox services is related to one account only when your child tries to play.

    If you want to verfy your account you have to fill out a forum. Go to xbox.com/forgot to rest password or verfy your account ownership.

    Is it perhaps set up as a child beforehand? If your account is previously set as a child, it will still remain as a child even after changing your birthdate.
