Children accounts require email addresses?

Just bought the One tonight, and was trying to figure out how to set up children gamer profiles that are not connected to Live, and it seemed at every turn it required an email address for their profile. My kids don't have email addresses; they're not allowed
online. This was something that was possible on the 360, is it not possible on the One?

Xbox live account for a child?

You can set up an account for a child under 13, however each account that you set up requires a unique email address. (An email address is required to sign up for Xbox LIVE.)

This means that your children will each need their own email address to set up their account.

The way this will work is that when you create the account, you will be prompted for an email address. You will enter your child's email address. You will also asked to provide a birth date. It's very important that you provide the correct birth date,
since this cannot be changed later.

You would not want to use your birth date and email address, since this would prevent you from managing the safety settings for your children.

When the system detects that your child is under 18, you will then be asked to provide your email address. This will enable you to manage your child's safety settings.

You do not need a Gold account to set up an account for your children.

I need help: adding a child profile

your children don't need an email, but the account does, just set up two email addresses with gmail and setup the accounts, and don't give your children access to them, however I would recommend forwarding the emails from them to yours incase MS send anything
important.

 

Sorry but the children would need to have an email address for their account as game saves are saved on the Cloud for them. However, as a parent your account would be in control and you can limit what they do online on the console through the Settings.
They would not be able to change these settings on their accounts.

 

That's unfortunate. It looks like we'll be returning the One in favor of a PS4. Our MS console support ends with the 360

 

on xbox 360, its possible to just create an xbox profile that is not in turn a "Microsoft Account" so that way your children can play offline and have separate game saves, but to connect to xbox live and play online (multiplayer & and purchasing content)
the xbox profile must sign up for Xbox Live.

If a user signs up for Xbox Live, a Microsoft account is required (emails are required for this). If the user is under the age of 18, then an additional Microsoft account must be created to monitor the child account. Xbox one has changed the way profiles
are created, if you try to create an account it will automatically try and setup a Microsoft account.

 

Just to Clarify as well, you do need an email address for the PS4 as well.

 

^ That what I going say. And you should take online expierness and learning one. It teach them how to learn to behaved on such things. It be good be with them at first. To give them idea what to do and not to do. If it MP thing you worryed. U can make a
free account and jounor will not played with any one unless free gold weekends. But u can controlled he or she dose on there console until there 18. And that my thinking and not yours.

 

Ps4 also requires email addreses for online accounts that's how you access the online services

But unlike Xbox one you do need a membership for each account

Xbox one only requires one gold per account

 

Email address for my little children this sucks. Next x box needs memory cards, Just a waste of time to remember email address for more than one child. Just another gimmick to bring up kids into a sticking with a certain company. I hate it.
