My child had an Xbox one at his mom's. I live separately. If I buy an Xbox One console, can he link into his current games etc. under a shared family account?

Related: Will the Xbox Anywhere will rolled out to include all games (interested in Overwatch & Star Wars Battlestar II) & what is the ETA/ would that be a better way to go?

Difficulty changing account child to adult

The birth date listed on this account is incorrect, and needs to be changed as it is currently still a child account. However, I have no idea what the 'Parent' Microsoft account linked to this child one would be, so how can I access the Parent account to
    promote the child one?

Family/Parent/Child Accounts and Games for Divorced Family - across 2 Xbox Ones

    Hey there!

    Thanks for the support message!

    • For a Child to have an account (and I assume, therefore, access to his/her games) on two different Xbox One consoles, they would both have to be registered (?) under one Family Account. Correct?
A child account HAS to be attached to at least one parental account in order to play online or sign up because legally a child can not accept the terms of use.

Can the Family Account have 2 adults (the parents), with separate security/payment details? (i.e. one parent cannot see/use the payment credentials on the other parent account)

Yes, you would just sign into the account at
    http://account.microsoft.com/
    to add a payment instrument.

I also want to make sure that neither parent can see or use any stored payment credentials on the other (Adult) person's account.

I recommend setting up the 6 digit passkey then on all accounts. Heres how: How to create an Xbox One passkey & Passkey Benefits
    on Xbox One

    Cheers!

He would just need to sign into his account at a console at your house and he'd have access to anything on his account.

Not really. The family account is really just there to provide parental control over child accounts.

  7. Thanks again for the answers. Now that I am ready to buy....should I simply buy the Xbox one since that is what his Mom has? I'd rather buy the Xbox S since it is more advanced, but want to avoid issues of backwards/forwards compatibility. How difficult
would it be for my son to use Xbox One at his mom's and then use Xbox one S at my place? TIA.

All versions of the One essentially work the same way. So it wouldn't matter if you bought a One or a One S. There won't be any issues with him switching between the two.
