    I'm trying to purchase a game for my child on his child account:

    I want the purchase to be associated with his gamertag, not mine. His account has a balance large enough to make the purchase. While signed in as him, I have tried purchasing it on our Xbox One, our Xbox 360, and on xbox.com, and no matter which one we
    try, the purchase refuses to go through.

    Alternately, purchasing it as a gift for him through my sign in would be acceptable, but I can't seem to find a way to do that, either.

    I do not want to purchase it on my own profile and share it with him. He's paying for it, I want his content to remain his.

    Can anyone tell me what I need to do to here?

    You should be able to make the purchase on the child account by giving parental consent. The other option would be to purchase a gift card for the child account.

    Are you on a child account? In order to purchase 360 content from a child account, you have to make the purchase from a 360 console.

    Hey there!

    You are able to purchase paid content through both adult and child accounts. On a child account you would be able to purchase paid items if you are given permission to purchase items on the account, if this permission is not given through the child accounts
    privacy & online safety settings then you would not be allowed to purchase.
