Child account linked to old unused account

Thanks, have tried to access my old account but not able to. Not really sure why and I have tried, as I am sure you can tell I am not very good with these things. The only details I have is my game tag but that doesn't seem to do any good.

The first question I would have is why can't you access the old account? You do know that you can take your 360 account to the ONE?

To better assist you, we would like to confirm if the purchase did go through in your child's account.

1. Kindly go to this link - Microsoft account | Order history and sign in with your child's account.
   
2. Please check if the game's purchase is on editing or was successfully done. Kindly check account's profile if the details and information is all added.
   
   • If status is editing please try if you can complete. If you encounter error or need assistance, please contact support.
     
   • If the purchases is complete then we need to perform troubleshooting.
     
     • On PC Settings, go to apps > search for Microsoft Store and repair> do the same with Xbox app and the game (if repair is available).
       
     • Kindly check if Microsoft Store and Xbox app was sign into the same credentials (your child's account).
       
     • Restart PC and turn off or disable an antivirus, antimalware, VPN, firewall and PC Optimizer.
       
     • Please try uninstall and reinstall of the game.
       
     • Sign in back to the game using the child's account. Let us know if you encounter errors or if it helps.

Thanks for your reply, but this was resolved. Like I said my first purchase for my son from the Xbox as a gift didn't register. I then bought under my son's account with my permission. Both payments went through. I asked to refund the first purchase but the second was instead.

After contacting support I found that on the first purchase under accounts.microsoft.com on the purchases tab, Orcs Must Die 3 was given a redemption code that I was able to redeem on my son's account. So at this point the issue is resolved.
