  1. Child account is parent account. How to change without child losing all of his gaming data?

About a year ago, I accidentally registered my son as the parents on his Xbox Microsoft account.

Since it has been that way for over a year, if I change it back to child will he lose all of his gaming data on his xbox 1.

If it is safe to do so, how do I change it to child.

He does not know the passwords for the account or any of the pass key codes.

    :)

Child game content and purchases on my account

My child has played on my account and has made some game feature purchases using my account rather than his child account. Now he does not want to play on his account because of losing his progress and purchases. How can I transfer the content to his
account or change my account to a child account so that when he plays he is subject to parental controls?

  3. Help with parent and child settings

We have an xbox one. I'm unfortunately technically challenged trying really hard, now my kids are getting older, to get up to speed on keeping them safe on the internet etc. When I set up the xbox I had my parent account and then created one child account.
However I've just discovered my son has been using my parent account to play all his games rather than his child account so now all his achievements are on my parent account. Can they be transferred from the parent account to his account so he is working
under the correct child setting and then how do I change my passcode?

Child account is parent account. How to change without child losing all of his gaming data?

If its an adult account then that means the date of birth that was selected when the account was made would make it over 18 years old. If that is the case then there is no way to make it a child account. There is no way to change the date of birth on an
Xbox live account after it has been changed.

The only way for your son to have a child account would be to make then a brand new account and select the correct date of birth for your son. Your son however would lose all save game progress from the adult account as nothing is transferrable between accounts.

    Xbox and parental controls

    A) can i switch the game data from my account to his

Unfortunately game save data can't be moved between accounts.

    B) can i set screen time limits to my own (parent) account

    Unfortunately no as well.

How can i get him back on his child account without him losing all his progress?

He will have to start over on his child account, where you can
    set limits for screen time
. I also suggest changing your password if he knows it, and possibly

    setting a passkey
on your account so that he can't log in on it to get around screen times.

My kid used my MS account for his XBOX One but now I want to setup parental controls and…

Thanks for your help - annoying that they don’t make this fully clear to unwitting parents buying kids xboxes.

Will he also lose in-game purchases? like on fortnite etc…

Is there no way to convert the existing account into a child's account or otherwise apply parental controls to it?

    Cheers!
    Hi

Yeah sorry, there is no way to change an adult account to a child account.

    Parents Beware

Dont use the console as a child minding device. The child must not have a Child account as if you have a child account you cant change anything without the parent account signed n also

XBOX ONE SETTING ADULT TIME LIMITS

The simple fact is that the current set up does not allow parental controls, without

    1)creating a dummy email account

2)making the parent account a child account and using the dummy email to create another parent account.

3)re-linking everything to dummy parent account (credit card, game downloads, passkey etc.)

    4)losing all saved game data

As a parent i should not have to jump through all these ridiculous and convoluted processes to set simple screen time limits. Nor should we have to lose save game data to do so.

Its absurd. It astounds me that anyone thinks that's an acceptable solution.

Microsoft may not ever change the policy but the current setup doesn't work.
