Child account in family group locked

We bought our 3 kids an Xbox Series S for Christmas. Prior to Christmas day, I proactively set up all of their accounts on the console and created a family group under my own Microsoft account so that day-of they could start gaming right away. On Christmas, when they went' to start playing, one of my kids' accounts was locked. Whenever she tried to log in, the Xbox just gave her a message that said her account was locked and she needed to fix it on the web. That's it. No contact info, no instructions, nothing. When I went to check my and her emails to see if we'd been notified that her account had been locked, we hadn't. No communication from Microsoft at all. The account is just locked and we're presented with no information on why, or how to unlock it. My account (the family owner) isn't locked. Neither of my other two kids' accounts are locked. Just my one child.

I contacted Microsoft support chat that day and was told I needed to fill out 2 forms to dispute the account being locked. So I did. When I asked how long it would take to be resolved I was told 24 hrs or less. 36 hrs later, nothing has changed. My one kid is still without an account.

So, I called Microsoft today. When I gave them the ticket number I received to my child's email they told me it didn't exist. When, exasperated, I explained what was going on I was told that it was "enforcement" that dealt with those issues, but they don't have a direct line, so I could be provided with a link to inquire about the status. When I said how completely ridiculous this was, and how not only did I want to speak to someone from "enforcement" but I also wanted to speak to someone from customer service, the agent started pretending he couldn't hear me. I'm not even joking. All of a sudden he starts going "hello?" "hello?" as if we'd been disconnected. I waited and waited and then just eventually hung up.

What absolutely terrible customer service. We own two consoles and, as a gamer, I spend tons of money with Microsoft annually. Not only that, I'm introducing my kids to gaming as well. I just upgraded to a Series X instead of a PS5 because I've been with Xbox and Microsoft for years but holy hell I'm starting to reconsider that. I know I could make another email for my daughter and set up another account but I shouldn't have to do that. What possible reason could her account have been banned for? She's in my family group (I have a spotless record) and none of her siblings were banned. Not only that, this method of no explanation or instruction about the ban, and no recourse to speak to someone about it, or check on the status of the account, is insane.

If anyone has delt with this before, or knows a method for resolving this issue other than capitulating to this absolutely ridiculous behaviour by Microsoft by making a brand new account, please let me know. Thanks in advance. I just had to vent about this insanity.

    :)

    FAMILY safety problems

Hi. My name is Brilliant and I am happy to assist you today.

Unfortunately only organizers of a family group can remove family members. Only the adult who granted consent can remove a child account from the family group. If the adult cannot access their account, the adult or appropriate guardian should attempt to recover the adult account. If you're locked in a family group, then your account may be lost forever.

are the affected accounts Child accounts?

if the date of birth associated with these accounts makes them under 18 years old you will need to get an adult to make a Family Group, add the affected Child accounts to the Family Group then change the privacy settings.
