    Child account content restrictions

So my father made an adult account when I first got my xbox with his own microsoft account, but it's basically mine since it was just an account so I could get a feel for how an xbox works.

A while ago I decided to make my own microsoft and xbox account because I didn't want to ask him to put in his password whenever I need to restart the console, but the thing is, the account I made was considered a child account. I've already given unrestricted access to all content it can view, but I'm still getting notifications about content restrictions like ,"This account is set up to only be able to view rockstar content." in GTA5, even though I see no discernable differences to regular online mode.

Could there be some restrictions I have missed or will that always show up since I'm using a "child" account?

Side note, the only reason I haven't removed my account from the family entirely is because my father pays for gamepass, and I'm worried if I remove my account from the family I'll have to start paying myself, is that the case?

    :)

Xbox 360 Gold Title Not able to download via backward compatability

Due to child restrictions, child accounts can only download 360 content on a 360 console.

    Hi Liam,

Thanks for reaching out to the forums! Are you the only account on the mentioned console. If their is a child account also on the console those child restrictions will also affect your account if that child account is currently logged in. If there are no additional accounts I would recommend verifying that your accounts "content restrictions" are set to the desired level to allow you to download the games and apps that you want. You can get here by navigating to Settings/Account/Content Restrictions .

Is the account a child one attached to your family account? As if it isn't a child account then unfortunately you can not place any restrictions as to content.

Downloading Xbox 360 games on the Xbox One

If you're on a child account, you can only purchase 360 content from a 360 console (this includes free games) due to child restrictions. The restrictions your dad would have set would only work towards One content.

    Child account content restrictions

Hi! My name is Ben an Independent advisor and an Xbox gamer. Hope you are doing well!

With regards to your issue, a parent account is the only one who can change the settings or date of birth of a child's account. Since your account must have been created as a child still, we will need to have a parent supervised it. Let me guide you how:

    1. You will need an alternate account that will serve as a parent. If you don't have one you can create at https://signup.live.com page.

    2. Using the parent account sign in via https://account.microsoft.com/family page and add your Xbox email address or account as a Member/Child.

    3. Accept the invitation using your Xbox account email.

    4. Using the parent account, go to the https://account.microsoft.com/family page again to manage the child account.

    5. Under the child account, click elipsis or 3 dots button and choose the Manage option.

There you may change the date of birth of your main account and remove any restrictions. In addition to the steps above, I suggest to also check your Privacy & online safety settings via https://account.xbox.com/en-gb/Settings/Home and check whether the multiplayer is allowed for Xbox one and check other settings as well.

Once done, just restart your console and check if there are still restrictions. For your question, if this is the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate you are referring to, you will still benefit from the subscription so long as the owner of the subscription has set your console as the Home Xbox this is a feature to share games and subscriptions from the owners account to all users on the Home Xbox.

I hope the above steps work for you but if not, please do let us know so we can try to assist you further with the best of our knowledge.

    Kind regards,

    Ben
