Child Account Can’t Play Multiplayer Minecraft

    Hello,

I have read every available thread on this and none of the fixes that have worked for other people have solved the problem for me. I created a child account. The child is 13. In the course of trying to get this to work I have set the content restrictions to that of 18+. I have enabled multiplayer in the Xbox online and privacy settings both for the child account in general and Minecraft specifically (for clarity this is the Java edition on our PC but apparently as a Microsoft product I still have to change some settings in the Xbox security app according to other posters). In trying to fix this I have lifted any and all restrictions on the account. I went into the launcher settings and removed old login tokens. I logged in and out, multiple times. I tried uninstalling, logging out of every Microsoft account both parent and child, updating to windows 11, and reinstalling. Nothing is working. The button for multiplayer is still greyed out. Please help because I am losing my mind.

    :)

Why can’t my child play multiplayer on Minecraft when I’m not signed in on the Xbox

As others noted, your children need an active Gold membership subscription to be able to play online multiplayer (other than free to play titles like Apex or Fortnite).

Since you say the child can play online multiplayer when you are signed in on that console, I assume your own account has an active Gold or Game Pass ULTIMATE subscription.

In order to save some costs, you can do the following:

Give one child (let's call it Child A) a gold membership subscription or a Game Pass ULTIMATE subscription (a "regular" Game Pass subscription won't do it).

Now Child A goes to the console of Child B and sets that console as their own Home Console in the settings of the Child B console.

Now the Child B console shares the Gold membership subscription with ANYONE playing on that Child B console.

As Child A is the owner of the Gold subscription, they in turn can go to ANY CONSOLE and their Gold subscription goes with them.

So Child B can play Minecraft online Multiplayer thanks to the shared Gold subscription on the B-console, and Child A can play on their own console (or any other console) thanks to the Gold membership on their Child A account.

If you yourself don't play online multiplayer, you can then cancel the Gold subscription on your own account, and the kids can play with their own accounts.

Can i synch worlds I create on Minecraft Xbox 360 edition to my Android tablet?

Because Xbox 360 edition for minecraft is not supported anymore, I think you are only able to play local co-op instead of online multiplayer. I could be wrong though. If minecraft Xbox 360 does support multiplayer co-op, then the problem could be that
your kids have child accounts and their permissions for online multiplayer is turned off. I hope this helps!

Multiplayer in Minecraft Java for pc.

    Hello Kids Dad,

Thank you for posting in the Microsoft Community.

I can see that you're having trouble with Minecraft Java multiplayer. Just to clarify, Minecraft Java and Minecraft Bedrock are two different versions of the game, and they have different multiplayer options.

For Minecraft Java, you can play multiplayer by either joining a server or creating your own server. To join a server, you'll need to know the server's IP address and port number. To create your own server, you can use software like Minecraft Server.

If you're trying to play Minecraft Bedrock multiplayer, you'll need to make sure that your child has an Xbox Live account and that their account is set up for online multiplayer. You can check this by going to the Xbox website and signing in with your child's account. From there, go to the "Privacy & online safety" section and make sure that "Join multiplayer games" is set to "Allow".

If you've already done this and your child still can't play multiplayer, it's possible that there may be an issue with your network settings or firewall. You may want to try resetting your router or contacting your internet service provider for assistance.
