    I have the same problem too and it's driving me nuts. I can't find new friends unless I invite them to a party. Microsoft we need answers!

    I have done what you have suggested but it does not work. I still cant send messages. It says Check Your Account. Then it tells me to go to support.xbox.com/fix-messaging . I think its just a glitch that might not be fixable i dont know.
