Cheated by XBOX. Kinect.. Wasted investment.

Anyone else feel cheated by xbox? I mean they took away hand gestures for no other reason but "not enough people use it". Pardon my language but what is that? Weren't gestures one of the big selling points of kinect and the kinect bundle in the first place?
And for the percentage of people who do actually use this feature, do we not matter? I mean honestly it wasn't hurting anyone to have the feature there even if alot of people didnt use it. But it is hurting the people who used it to not have the feature there
at all! I honestly just feel cheated out of my money for kinect. Right now its literally a glorified camera. Cortana voice commands are A LOT better than kinect voice commands so honestly what did i buy a kinect for? Absolutely stupid.

by dodging my question ill assume you cant answer it without contradicting your previous posts.

 

It ticks me off, even though I didn't use the hand gestures, but I certainly used voice commands, and the Kinect for some games.

It really comes down to all of those who complained, which is sad because it kills innovation. I have to believe the technology would of gotten better. The Kinect was always a nice choice for party games, but it's basically has been put to a stop.

 

I went to the midnight launch of Xbox 1 in NZ. And have the Xbox 1 Day 1 Edition console (500GB) with Kinect.

I hardly used Kinect for GESTURES. But Kinect can be used for MUCH MORE, A LOT MORE, than JUST gestures. Here's a LIST of things you can use Kinect for on Xbox 1:

1. QR Codes.

Trying to punch in a 25 digit key code takes longer FACT BIG FACT, Kinect can do it in 1-2 seconds. Punching the key in manually is so old school and something which 'Generation X' old school adults won't complain about.

2. Playing games.

K, there's only a few games which support it. But I have Kinect Sports Rivals and Zoo Tycoon, and it's actually fun, especially for other kids and teens.

3. Like Windows Hello.

In fact I think it came out before Microsoft came up with Windows Hello. Sign in securely on your console using Facial and Body recognition, without entering in a pin or password (but old school people will want to do it the hard way). It can also differentiate
between twins. And under settings, you can change the views how Kinect sees things (1) normal (2) colourful (3) shadowy.... good for ghost surveillance.

4. Use it for Voice Chat (in game and party chat).

Kids complain they broke their mic, lost it, or their bro or sis broke it or are hogging it. Plus mics are made out of cheap $1 plastic material. The Kinect has more class in the materials it's made out. I have fact behind this answer. Microsoft sells a
brand new Kinect, cheaper!!!! than they sell the Xbox 1 Elite controller with the controversial 90 day warranty and where lots of people complain about the unjustifiably expensive price tag for it and how it breaks after 2 months or the analogue sticks drift
after purchase. Can also send Voice Messages using Kinect too.

5. Console Video Chat.

Yes you can do this on your PC or phone. But Microsoft created Xbox 1 to do more than just "gaming". Microsoft also have said that they wanted Xbox 1 to do more than just gaming. And if you're a true Xbox fan, I don't need to provide links to prove that.

Voice Commands use to be a Kinect Feature ONLY. Until a lot of oldies complained about it and Microsoft finally rolled out an Update so voice commands can be done with a mic. They erased Gestures because hardly anyone who owns a Kinect, used it. And Microsoft
knows this. If you want to have fun with gestures, go Video Chat with a friend or play some games which support Kinect; and gesture out your frustration or do what you feel will make you happy. But don't underestimate the investment you've made on Kinect.
Remember, it's cheaper than an Elite Controller. I got Xbox late 2010 and never had Kinect for Xbox 360. It makes no sense to get Kinect for Xbox 360 since it's last gen and with Scorpio due out late this year.

 

The Cortana commands are atrocious especially compared to the Kinect voice commands. The hand gestures were woeful at best so removing them supposedly gave the console a little boost in performance so I am okay with that.

 

I like more Kinect games. I bought Fru, Boom Ball 2 and Squid Hero and they are good games. I expect more Kinect games from Microsoft.

 

Have you tried Kinect Sports Rivals and Zoo Tycoon. When i drive them jet boats in wake racing in Kinect Sports Rivals it feels like im really there in real life. Rather than being old school and using a controller lol.

 

kinect is a great way to improve your dancing and creative body languagr. its better than being a couch potato.
